Rotary Club of Thane to sponsor Maharashtra wheelchair fencing team
With just around 123 days to go for the Incheon 2014 Asian Para Games, Rotary Club of Thane West (R. I Dist 3140 & Club no 15544) have come forward to support the Maharashtra Wheelchair Fencing Team. The International Fencing Federation (IFE) has approved wheelchairs which cost around Rs. 50,000.
Wheelchair fencing is a version of fencing for athletes with disability. The sport is governed by the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation that is a federation of the International Paralympic Committee.
Rtn Dr. Sunil Katkade hosted an exhibition match on 11th June, 2014. He congratulated Vinay Sable who recently played in a World Cup match held in Italy. Sable will be representing India in this year’s Para Asian Games along with Vibhas Sen.
