10-time WWE champion to debut on AEW Dynamite and immediately align with Ricochet? Looking at the chances
A former champion in WWE could make his AEW debut this week on Dynamite and align himself with Ricochet. The star is reportedly set to sign with Tony Khan's promotion as well.
The 10-time WWE champion in question is Shelton Benjamin. Shelton has had two separate runs with the Stamford-based promotion and is a former Intercontinental, United States, 24/7 and multi-time tag team champion as well. The 49-year-old veteran surprisingly got released from the promotion last year.
While Benjamin has been active on the independent wrestling scene since his release, he is reportedly expected to sign with AEW soon. After MVP's All Elite debut, fans could expect a reunion of The Hurt Business after Shelton comes in. Benjamin could also align himself with Ricochet following his rumored All Elite debut.
Ricochet is slated to take on Will Ospreay for the International Championship this Wednesday on the five-year anniversary of Dynamite. Shelton Benjamin can help his fellow former WWE star capture the title and recruit him to the new Hurt Business alongside MVP.
Interestingly, last year, MVP revealed that Ricochet was his first choice for the original Hurt Business instead of Cedric Alexander. However, it didn't turn out to be the case during their time in the WWE. The Future of Flight also had a feud with The Hurt Business faction back in 2020.
Former WWE Superstar on whether he's jealous of Will Ospreay
The former WWE Superstar, Ricochet and Will Ospreay are set to square off after over seven years this Wednesday. Speaking on Battleground Podcast recently, Rico opened up on whether he is jealous of Ospreay:
“I don’t think anybody is jealous of anybody in the wrestling business, really. I mean, I’m sure there are, but again, my core—my people, my circle, the people that I’m around—nobody is jealous of anybody. And again, I’m sure there are egos, and there are people. But as far as we go, we’ve been in contact basically the whole time.”
Henceforth, it remains to be seen if Ricochet manages to capture the International title from Ospreay this Wednesday.
