21-year WWE veteran to make AEW return as a heel for one last run and join forces with Chris Jericho? Looking at the chances
Chris Jericho is currently enjoying his second run as the ROH World Champion. He is also the leader of The Learning Tree, which comprises Bryan Keith and Big Bill. The Demo God's faction could soon recruit a new member.
Paul Wight (fka Big Show in WWE) has been absent from TV since last year. His last match in the Jacksonville-based promotion was on the November 15 edition of AEW Dynamite. He later competed at Jericho Cruise 2024. A few months ago, Wight revealed that he underwent hip and knee replacement surgery.
There is no news on when Wight might return to the squared circle. However, fans could expect him to make a comeback soon because he has already started training. The former world champion and Chris Jericho spent a lot of time together in WWE. They were part of a successful tag team called Jeri-Show between 2009 and 2010.
The duo won the WWE Tag Team Championship and World Tag Team Title in the Stamford-based promotion. Hence, the 21-year WWE veteran could return as a heel and join Y2J's heel stable. Wight previously mentioned that he wanted to have one final run before retiring from in-ring competition. He could have a successful stint with Jericho in AEW's tag team division upon his arrival.
Wight worked in WWE from 1999 to 2007. After a brief stint in Memphis Wrestling, he returned to the global juggernaut for a second run, which lasted from 2008 to 2021.
Bully Ray took a dig at Chris Jericho
NXT and Dynamite went head-to-head on November 6. WWE's developmental brand won the Wednesday night war as it came out on top with higher viewership and TV ratings. Bully Ray made his in-ring return for the global juggernaut on the same show.
While discussing the show at Signed By Superstars, Bully Ray took a major jab at The Demo God after Dynamite lost to NXT.
“NXT beat AEW in the ratings last night! Why? [points to himself] Ratings God! Not The Demo God, but The Ratings God. Take that, Chris Jericho!” Ray said.
On NXT 2300 last week, Bully Ray partnered with Trick Williams to take on Ridge Holland and Ethan Page. The show drew 619,000 viewers with a rating of 0.17 in the 18-49 demographic. Meanwhile, Dynamite garnered 523,000 viewers with a 0.16 rating.
