3 Australian stars missing from AEW Grand Slam 2025 poster
Since its inception in 2019, AEW has actively tried to expand its business to various foreign territories. The first two editions of AEW's biggest annual pay-per-view, All In, emanated from Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom.
As they continue to find new audiences outside the American market, the Tony Khan-led company will head to Australia next year. In February 2025, the Jacksonville-based promotion will host Grand Slam, which will be held at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
The poster for All Elite Wrestling's first-ever Australian pay-per-view was recently released, which featured stars like Swerve Strickland, Will Ospreay, and Jon Moxley. While the poster had Toni Storm in the center, many other notable Australian stars were surprisingly absent from the promotional banner.
In this article, let's look at three stars missing from the AEW Grand Slam 2025 poster.
#3 Harley Cameron is not part of the Grand Slam poster
Popular female star Harley Cameron failed to make it to the poster of AEW Grand Slam: Australia. Since aligning herself with Saraya, Cameron has emerged as one of the most consistently featured stars on the company's weekly programming.
Interestingly, Toni Storm is the only Australian female AEW star who finds herself on the promotional banner for Grand Slam 2025. While Harley Cameron is certainly a recognized figure in the women's division, she has a long way to go before she becomes a main event talent like the Timeless star.
It is safe to say that the 30-year-old performer would be disappointed at not being highlighted on the poster for AEW's first Australian pay-per-view. Harley Cameron would certainly look to make her stock rise in the next few months to finally earn herself a prominent spot on the Grand Slam 2025 match card.
#2 Kyle Fletcher is one of the most notable Australian stars in AEW
Kyle Fletcher has risen as a prominent singles star in All Elite Wrestling in the last 12 months. The Protostar has established himself as a workhorse in the Jacksonville-based promotion by delivering countless in-ring classics in the squared circle.
Fletcher's terrific in-ring skills and natural charisma have helped him accumulate a huge fanbase in All Elite Wrestling. Surprisingly, the former ROH World TV Champion was omitted from the poster for Grand Slam: Australia.
Fletcher's absence from the promotional material comes as a major shock for fans, as the 25-year-old star is one of the brightest talents in the Tony Khan-led company. Although he did not feature Fletcher on the Grand Slam 2025 poster, Tony Khan cannot afford to keep The Protostar out of the equation when AEW eventually goes Down Under in February 2025.
#1 Buddy Matthews' Australian origins are well-documented
Buddy Matthews is among the most prominent talents to have emerged from the Australian independent circuit. Much like his wife, Rhea Ripley, Matthews enjoys significant popularity in his home country. The Best Kept Secret returned to The Land Down Under at WWE Super Show-Down in 2018, where he received a hero's welcome from the audience.
In a surprising turn of events, AEW decided to keep the House of Black member out of the poster for Grand Slam 2025. The news could be a matter of disappointment for Buddy Matthews, who recently pointed out the lack of Australian representation in the promotional packages for Grand Slam 2025.
Having been part of the trios division for a long time, Matthews would look to turn things around and earn himself a singles match at Grand Slam 2025. The Best Kept Secret could rack up some important wins in the next few months, which could eventually lead him to a title match at the Australian pay-per-view.
