3 Best moments in AEW Rampage history
AEW Rampage finally came to its permanent end after its last episode aired from the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on December 27, 2024. Jon Moxley would put Rampage out of its misery on the last episode after he demanded the production team to cut programming.
Even though Rampage has been treated as less of a priority as compared to the promotion's other shows it aired some outstanding matches and moments that will go down in its history. We're here to take a look at those best moments from the three-year period that will be remembered for a long time.
#3) Hook's in-ring debut on the December 8, episode of AEW Rampage
Hook's in-ring debut would come up and surprise a lot of people. The Handsome Devil would take on Fuego Del Sol on the December 8, edition of Rampage. The debut had been anticipated but once it was over the headlines about Taz's son would not stop coming.
Hook would walk down the aisle and exude confidence and toughness to the entrance theme provided by rapper Action Bronson. He would then proceed to completely dominate Fuego Del Sol in the ring.
The former FTW Champion showcased his impressive technical prowess in his first match, impressing a lot of people. Much like his father, he would finish his opponent off via submission with a variation of the signature Tazmission.
This debut would put a lot of eyes not only on Hook but on the show as well, with a lot of fans tuning in to see one of the best debuts in AEW's history. The debut would also provide a glimpse into the company's bright future for younger talent.
#2) Christian Cage wins the Impact Championship from Kenny Omega
The very first episode of AEW Rampage on August 13, 2021, would produce a lot of great moments to pick from. However, we've chosen Christian Cage finally getting his win over Kenny Omega and capturing the Impact World Championship in an outstanding match.
The two stars had been feuding for a while and would produce two stunning matches for Omega's AEW and Impact World titles. The match aired on the debut episode of Rampage, with the duo putting on a match-of-the-year candidate.
Cage would fend off interferences from Omega's associates, The Young Bucks, and put him away with a final Killswitch on the steel chair to seal his victory. The fans would rejoice greatly as this was back when Christian wasn't going around insulting his rivals' fathers and was a babyface.
#1) CM Punk's debut in AEW
Say what you want about CM Punk's entire time in AEW, but you can't dispute that when he debuted, it sent shockwaves through the entire professional wrestling industry. Everything from the anticipation to his entrance, to the subsequent highlight promo segment would be magical as the fans roared for their returning hero.
Even though things would sour a year later into the Cult of Personality's run in Tony Khan's promotion, no one can take this moment away from him. His return to professional wrestling after seven years of absence would produce one of the best moments of TV ever.
The moment of his entrance was so thunderous and emotional that it would even make some fans tear up with joy. This return is a testament to the legacy of Rampage and will go down in history as not only the show's best moments but also in the history of All Elite Wrestling itself.
