3 mistakes Tony Khan must avoid making on the 5-year anniversary of AEW Dynamite
AEW Dynamite has been one of the most popular wrestling shows in recent years. The program first aired in October 2019 and since then, it has garnered countless fans across the world. The next episode of Dynamite will air this week on October 2, 2024. Interestingly, this will be their fifth Anniversary show and will feature some high-profile bouts.
Here are the three matches announced for the event so far:
- Serena Deeb vs. Britt Baker (singles match)
- Hangman Page vs. Juice Robinson (singles match)
- AEW International Championship: Will Ospreay (c) vs. Ricochet
The upcoming event promises to be memorable and fruitful, however, Tony Khan needs to avoid certain mistakes while booking it.
Here are three mistakes Tony Khan must avoid making on the five-year anniversary of AEW Dynamite.
#3. Letting Will Ospreay retain the AEW International Championship
Will Ospreay is currently in his second AEW International Championship reign. He won the title at the All In pay-per-view by defeating MJF, in what some consider one of the best matches of 2024. At the Dynamite Five-Year Anniversary show, he will lock horns with Ricochet for the title, and Tony Khan needs to make sure that the new AEW signee is the victor.
This is because The Aerial Assassin is already immensely popular among fans. If he loses his championship, his momentum will not be gravely affected. Moreover, if the former WWE Intercontinental Champion wins, he will probably get over with fans. The two men have battled several times before and their rivalry is intense. They will certainly deliver a great match.
#2. Stalling Christian Cage's cash in any longer
Christian Cage currently holds a contract that will allow him to cash in for a shot at Bryan Danielson's AEW World Championship at any given time. He earned this contract in the All In pay-per-view by winning the Casino Gauntlet match.
He has already tried to cash in twice but was stopped in both instances. If Tony Khan books yet another failed cash-in attempt, the storyline will get monotonous and repetitive. They should get it over with by making the 50-year-old pull the trigger in the upcoming episode of Dynamite. It looks hard for Cage to become the new champion right now because Danielson and Moxley are in an intense rivalry, however, the possibility can not be rejected.
#1. Not delaying Bobby Lashley's debut any further
Ever since Bobby Lashley's run in WWE ended, he has been heavily rumored to join All Elite Wrestling. The speculation only got stronger after his former The Hurt Business stablemate, MVP, made his debut in the company at Dynamite: Grand Slam 2024.
During his appearance, he criticized Prince Nana for his managerial skills.
"I don’t see that as a failure of Swerve’s. I see that as a failure of Swerve’s management!" said MVP.
Fans are certain that Lashley will be All Elite soon. However, it will be important for Tony Khan to introduce him to fans without further delay. Or else, this could negatively impact his current hype.
