3 reasons why Jon Moxley needs to dethrone Bryan Danielson before the end of 2024

Jon Moxley stunned AEW fans when he betrayed and assaulted Bryan Danielson at All Out 2024, choking him out with a plastic bag in a truly alarming spot. The incident in question took place after Danielson's successful AEW World Championship defense against Jack Perry.

The Purveyor of Violence is seemingly eager to face his former stablemate for the AEW World Championship, and, to that end, will try to wrest away Darby Allin's World Title shot at Dynamite: Grand Slam 2024. Regardless of the outcome of the bout, it may be argued that Moxley sits on top of the list of AEW stars who deserve to dethrone The American Dragon.

As such, let us consider three reasons why Jon Moxley should defeat Bryan Danielson before the end of 2024.

#1: 2024 is supposed to be Bryan Danielson's final year as a full-time wrestler

Bryan Danielson has been outspoken about his decision to retire as a full-time competitor in 2024. However, after beating Swerve Strickland to become the AEW World Champion at All In 2024, Danielson declared that he would continue to wrestle as long as he holds the title. He already has a successful defense against Jack Perry in the bag and may lock horns with his old rival Nigel McGuinness in a non-title bout at Grand Slam 2024.

While the former WWE Champion has been advertised for AEW's San Jose debut on October 16 following the 2024 edition of WrestleDream, he has not featured in posters for events in the subsequent weeks.

This raises the possibility of Danielson's full-time in-ring career in AEW coming to a close in or after October. In that case, Jon Moxley capturing the World Title from Danielson, potentially in the Tacoma Dome at WrestleDream - in Danielson's home state of Washington - could make for a narratively sound and emotional end to The Dragon's career in the squared circle.

#2: Jon Moxley should defeat Bryan Danielson to become a top heel in AEW

Speculations have been running wild recently surrounding Jon Moxley's storyline motivations for turning on Bryan Danielson and seemingly choosing war against AEW. Many have conjectured that The Ace of the World could be in league with Shane McMahon in a bid to take over the company in a massive angle. The Ohio native himself teased some kind of mysterious intention during his exchange with Darby Allin last week, albeit without revealing any exact details.

Regardless of whatever Mox and the seemingly new BCC are planning, it cannot be denied that the stable and its allies would possess more credibility if the former Lunatic Fringe carried the top prize of AEW on his shoulders. Notably, Claudio Castagnoli and PAC - two of Moxley's current teammates - are two-thirds of the World Trios Champions alongside Wheeler Yuta. Thus, Moxley winning the AEW World Title would set up his faction as the dominant force in AEW, and himself as the promotion's next top heel.

#1: Jon Moxley ending Bryan Danielson's career can put a bow on the story of The BCC

Two years ago, Bryan Danielson approached Jon Moxley with a vision - to join forces and create an unstoppable team that would dominate AEW and also provide up-and-coming talent like Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia the opportunity to learn from and train with some of the best and most violent wrestlers in the world. This eventually led to the birth of The Blackpool Combat Club, which grew to become one of AEW's top acts since then.

Interestingly, while explaining his attack on Danielson at All Out 2024, Moxley claimed that he and Bryan failed in their mission of building an enduring legacy, an indestructible idea. While members of The BCC have never shied away from facing each other without turning on each other, Mox's recent character shift has sparked an equally violent, sinister change in how the stable handles business.

Considering the above, it can be proposed that the most compelling way to conclude the story of The BCC would see Moxley beating Danielson for the AEW World Championship and ending one of the most decorated careers in wrestling history.

It remains to be seen how AEW books the inevitable confrontation between Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson heading into Grand Slam 2024.
