3 stars who could quietly leave AEW in 2025
AEW has had another impressive year with a lot of its stars. However, just like with any other promotion, it hasn't been able to please all of them. Some of the promotion's stars have seemingly been unhappy with the company and could be looking to explore other options.
With the fierce competition between AEW and WWE and many stars jumping ship to one another, it might not be entirely crazy to see a few athletes from Tony Khan's company go. So, here we're taking a look at those professional wrestlers who could quietly exit the company next year.
#3) Ricky Starks could leave AEW due to continued problems
There seems to be an unfortunate situation occurring between Tony Khan and Ricky Starks behind the scenes. Starks has been absent from most of 2024 and is being kept off of TV for some reason.
There are now concerns popping up about his future with the company and interest is emerging from the other side of the fence in WWE. It seems that Starks' contract will expire next year and he might join the Stamford-based company and be let loose once again.
#2) Wardlow could leave AEW due to lackluster booking
Wardlow is one prominent star that WWE has been keeping its eye on for some time now. AEW has been unable to capitalize on his popularity as a wrecking machine on their roster with their lackluster booking.
It seemed like Tony Khan had gotten his hands on a star with the aura of a monster such as Brock Lesnar or Goldberg in his promotion. However, that popularity has died down considerably due to his constant absence and bizarre booking decisions.
Wardlow is currently in the midst of another hiatus and last wrestled for AEW in March. It wouldn't be a surprise for him to wait out the remainder of his contract to then go sign with WWE once it has run out.
#1) Hook might want to explore other options
Hook's contract with AEW has been rumored to expire in late 2024, with the youngster looking to explore free-agent status.
He has been feuding with Christian Cage for several weeks now in AEW, with the feud consistently heating up every week. The Handsome Devil has been out for revenge on Cage and his group after they attacked his father, Taz.
We're yet to see the outcome of this feud but it seems that WWE will be keeping a close eye on his contract situation in hopes of luring him over to their side. We can easily see the former FTW Champion being a staple to watch over on NXT before he makes his big splash on the main roster.
