3-time WWE champion to leave AEW immediately after losing a match at Collision: Grand Slam? Exploring the possibility
A former WWE Superstar and three-time champion could make her AEW departure after losing a major bout at the promotion's upcoming event, Collision: Grand Slam 2024. The star in question is none other than Saraya.
The Anti-Diva has been signed with All Elite Wrestling since 2022. Despite enjoying a lot of success in the Tony Khan-led company - including a stint as the AEW Women's World Champion - Saraya's booking of late has received mixed responses from fans and critics. The 32-year-old star is currently locked in a feud with Jamie Hayter, who made her much-anticipated return at All In 2024 to exact revenge against Saraya.
Last week on Rampage, the two-time WWE Divas Champion and former NXT Women's Champion challenged Hayter to face her in a 'Saraya's Rules' match which has been set for Collision: Grand Slam 2024. The announcement of the bout gave rise to speculations regarding Saraya's future in AEW, as a report from August indicated that the English star's contract with All Elite Wrestling could expire after September. Although both sides have supposedly been in talks over extending the star's deal, no official word is available as to whether an agreement has been reached on the matter.
This brings up the possibility of the former women's champion making her All Elite exit after putting over Jamie Hayter in their match at Grand Slam 2024 this week, just over two years after debuting in the promotion at the same event. A win over the former Women's World Champion could add momentum to Hayter's comeback, and potentially conclude Saraya's AEW run by bringing it full circle in the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Stipulations for Saraya's Rules match were revealed on AEW Collision
During a backstage interview with Renee Paquette last week on Collision, Harley Cameron and Saraya revealed a number of stipulations for the latter's upcoming match against Jamie Hayter at Collision: Grand Slam.
The rules seemed to be greatly skewed in favor of the former Paige, allowing her to use weapons, disregard the ten-count, utilize illegal maneuvers, and enjoy outside interference on her behalf. One of the rules even stated that the match could begin only with offense delivered by Saraya.
It remains to be seen whether Hayter will be able to overcome the odds to defeat the former WWE NXT Women's Champion.
