3 ways Keith Lee could return to AEW
AEW star Keith Lee is currently on a hiatus. His most recent match in the Jacksonville-based promotion was against Brian Cage on the December 23, 2023, episode of Collision, which he won. He was also previously associated with WWE from 2018 to 2021. Fans expected so much from the 39-year-old star because he had a lot of potential but unfortunately they did not see much of him.
He then moved to AEW amid much fanfare and had a few feuds initially but has since gotten lost in the mix and has not been doing much in the Tony Khan-led promotion. He has not been seen for a while and it is time that The Limitless One comes back. There might be a possibility that Lee could get a chance to engage in some serious feuds upon his return to AEW which could prove to be beneficial in elevating his stature in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
In this article, we will take a look at three ways how Keith Lee could return to AEW.
#3. Return as a heel and dethrone AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland
It can be said that Keith Lee’s run as a babyface has fallen on its face and that it has not been a success at all. Perhaps a run as a heel could benefit him and his character. That is where he could be well placed in returning to the Jacksonville-based promotion to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship.
Strickland is one of the most over stars on the roster and fans love him to bits. Lee could come back and attack Swerve and essentially turn into one of the biggest heels by taking the AEW World Championship from him.
#2. Retire Dustin Rhodes
Dustin Rhodes, formerly known as Goldust, is coming to the end of his career and it is becoming more and more evident that he wants to put over someone before he calls it a day. That someone could be Keith Lee.
Given that he has not yet had any proper feud in AEW, Lee being Dustin’s last opponent could prove to be great for both of them. The Limitless One could retire Dustin and cement himself as one of the top stars in the Jacksonville-based company in the process. By having Keith as his potential last opponent, Dustin could also receive a well-deserved sendoff. The former Goldust's most recent match in the Tony Khan-led promotion was against Jack Perry on the June 12, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite, which he lost.
#1. Lee could enter into a feud with Jon Moxley
Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose, is one wrestler who just loves to perform and does not care who is in front of him. The same mentality has enabled him to win the top titles across various wrestling companies. He currently holds the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Keith Lee is one opponent who could give the former WWE Superstar a run for his money. A match with Moxley could also propel Lee into the upper echelons of AEW.
