3 Ways Matt and Jeff Hardy could return to AEW

The Hardy Boyz have found immense success over the years in AEW, WWE, TNA, and many other wrestling promotions. The extreme duo is regarded as one of the most decorated tag teams of all time, thanks to their in-ring brilliance and natural charisma.

Both Matt and Jeff Hardy are currently part of the TNA roster on a short-term basis. The two stars reunited in Total Nonstop Action soon after The Charismatic Enigma left AEW. While some feel their first run in the Tony Khan-led company did not meet expectations, the brothers are seemingly open to a return to All Elite Wrestling down the line.

If The Hardys do return to AEW in the future, they could tussle it out with many quality tag teams. In this article, let's look at three ways The Hardy Boyz could return to All Elite Wrestling.

#3. The Hardy Boyz return to AEW and dethrone The Young Bucks

The Young Bucks have taken the AEW Tag Team division under their stranglehold in 2024. The AEW EVPs have been impressively dominant as AEW World Tag Team Champions, having beaten every tag team that stood in their path.

However, The Bucks could find their title reign in serious threat if The Hardy Boyz decided to show up. The duo of Matt and Jeff Hardy could emerge as legitimate challengers for the AEW World Tag Team Championships if they end up returning to the Jacksonville-based promotion.

The two teams have previously faced each other on numerous occasions in the past. At Double or Nothing 2022, The Hardys were successful in taking down the EVPs. However, The Young Bucks eventually got the best of the legendary duo when they battled each other again in August 2023.

Another match between the two brotherly duos would determine who really is the best tag team. After terrorizing the tag team division for months, The Bucks could end up losing their titles against the returning team of Matt and Jeff Hardy.

#2. The Hardys stand up against Jon Moxley's newest faction

Jon Moxley has decided to reshape All Elite Wrestling as per his own vision. The Purveyor of Violence has recruited Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, and Marina Shafir to help him in his mission to take over the Jacksonville-based promotion.

The heel group launched a heinous assault on Bryan Danielson at All Out 2024, which left The American Dragon gasping for his breath. If The Deathrider continues to cast a dark shadow over the All Elite Wrestling roster, Tony Khan may need to call upon a legendary tag team.

The Hardy Boyz are expected to stay with TNA till the end of 2024. Once they wrap up their business in TNA, the extreme duo could head to All Elite Wrestling to take on Jon Moxley's newest faction. Known for their love for hardcore wrestling, The Hardys could give The Deathrider a run for his money.

Standing up against a legitimate star like Moxley could help Matt and Jeff restore their credibility in the eyes of the AEW audience. The duo could win back the respect of the fans by putting an end to Moxley's villainous faction.

#1. A final rematch against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage

The duo of Adam Copeland (fka Edge) and Christian Cage is arguably the greatest team to have stood up against The Hardy Boyz in their legendary careers. The two teams have had countless battles in the past, which still remain afresh in the memories of hardcore wrestling fans.

2025 could be the year when The Hardy Boyz reignite their feud with Copeland and Christian one final time. Once their TNA run ends, the extreme duo could head back to the Tony Khan-led company to settle their scores with Captain Charisma and The Rated-R Superstar.

After a successful three-year-long run as a heel, Christian Cage could turn babyface in 2025 and reunite with Adam Copeland. The historic reunion would pave the way for the return of The Hardys, who would love to have a final showdown against their arch-rivals.
