4 AEW duos who could replace The Lucha Brothers' spot on the roster

The Lucha Brothers are no longer in AEW, with Penta El Zero Miedo formally leaving the company recently. Rey Fenix remains signed to the roster, but it seems that he is waiting for his contract to expire before joining his brother.

The duo are former AEW World Tag Team Champions and one of the most successful duos in the company's history, having been around since 2019.

With the landscape of the division constantly changing, many could look to fill up the spot that they would be vacating. Here are some up-and-coming duos who could rise and be the next big thing in the tag team division.

#1. AEW forms a new luchador duo in Hologram & Kommander

Apart from being one of the best tag teams in AEW history, the Lucha Brothers were also known as singles competitors. Rey Fenix even became the International Champion at one point.

Pairing Hologram, who remains undefeated on the promotion, with Kommander, who has been in great form, is a recipe for success. These two athletic luchadors could take over the tag team division and even be good enough to challenge Private Party for the titles.

Hologram is currently out with injury, and Kommander is in the AEW C2, but they could be a force to be reckoned with in 2025 should Tony Khan decide to pair them together moving forward. Alex Abrahantes could continue to manage both of them just like he managed the Lucha Brothers.

#2. La Faccion Ingobernable

Under the guidance of Jake 'The Snake' Roberts, it seems like La Faccion Ingobernable (LFI) has gained a new life. Although they fell short in gunning for the tag team titles, they may look to bounce back and remind the roster who they are.

Putting Rush and The Beast Mortos as a duo has huge potential, seeing as they are two of the heaviest hitters on the roster. They could be unstoppable and good enough to rise the ranks if they build up their in-ring chemistry. The same can be said if Rush is paired with his long-time factionmate, Dralistico.

The luchador faction could fill in nicely for the Lucha Brothers, as they will combine the luchador culture with the relentless and hard-hitting style of LFI.

#3. Lio Rush & Action Andretti

Last week, disharmony was evident within Top Flight. Lio Rush and Action Andretti went into business for themselves and even eliminated their allies during the AEW Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale.

When confronted by the Martin Brothers and Leila Grey, they hinted at taking a different path, as this would be their ticket to success. Should they pull the trigger and leave Top Flight, they could stand out as another high-flying, athletic duo with great potential.

Heading toward turning heel could also work for them, as this may bring out a much more aggressive side for the two of them. This could be what they need to rise to the top of the tag team division.

#4. Brian Cage & Lance Archer

After pulling out a couple of transactions, Don Callis has just created a monstrous duo that has the potential to take over the tag team division. The veteran has strengthened his ranks after trading Rush for Lance Archer and bringing in Brian Cage.

The ROH TV Champion and the Murderhawk Monster have not lost a single match since teaming up. They have also been completely dominant through these matches.

With Konosuke Takeshita being the AEW International Champion and Kyle Fletcher gunning for the Continental Championship through the C2, Cage and Archer could make a run for the tag team titles and try to bring all the gold to the Don Callis Family.

At this point, it remains to be seen whether these four duos can live up to the legacy left behind by the Lucha Brothers. With another AEW original tag team in the Young Bucks working from home, other duos may need to begin to step up.
