4 Directions for Dijak if he signs with AEW after huge teaser
Former WWE star Dijak has been outspoken about his interest in appearing in AEW. The star was backstage at Forbidden Door 2024 in June. In an interview earlier this year, the 37-year-old revealed that Tony Khan had supposedly been "made aware of his interest," presumably in competing at his promotion, and further claimed that the two men shared "reciprocal respect."
Despite not having been signed by All Elite Wrestling yet, Dijak recently made headlines when he took to social media and offered to be Ricochet's teammate for his upcoming match against Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita this week on Dynamite. While The One and Only will likely tag with a contracted All Elite star - most likely Will Ospreay - Dijak's post has excited fans about the prospect of him possibly appearing on AEW programming at some point in the near future.
As such, let us consider four possible directions for Donovan Dijak if he signs with All Elite Wrestling.
#1. Donovan Dijak could face Adam Cole ahead of Full Gear
Adam Cole is regarded by many to be inseparable from the black-and-gold era of WWE NXT, which is remembered fondly by fans for presenting some of the finest global wrestling talent duking it out in top-tier, high-octane matches.
Several former NXT names are currently signed with AEW besides Cole, including his Undisputed Kingdom stablemate Roderick Strong, Kyle O'Reilly, Ricochet, and Malakai Black, whom Cole is scheduled to face this week.
The Panama City Playboy needs three straight wins for a match against his nemesis MJF at Full Gear 2024. With one victory against Buddy Matthews in his pocket already, it remains to be seen whether the former NXT Champion will be able to defeat Malakai on November 6. While The House of Black member Brody King is likely to be Cole's subsequent opponent, the role could also be played by Donovan Dijak, who could debut in the Tony Khan-led company against the 35-year-old star.
Dijak and Cole have clashed in both singles and multi-person bouts in NXT. A match between the two in All Elite Wrestling would undoubtedly live up to the standards set by their past work.
#2. Dijak could join forces with MxM and reunite with Mason Madden in AEW
Since signing with AEW and its sister promotion, ROH, earlier this year, MxM has gained considerable popularity among viewers owing to their incredibly entertaining character work and skills in the ring. Mansoor and Mason Madden received an offer for a future collaboration from Johnny TV last week on Collision. Whether or not the flamboyant duo accepts the former John Morrison's offer, they could certainly join forces with another former WWE Superstar, Dijak.
Dijak and Madden were stablemates in the sports entertainment juggernaut as members of Retribution. The stars have also evidently maintained a close friendship even after their respective WWE departures. As such, Dijak could forge an alliance with MxM on AEW programming, giving birth to a unique, dynamic collective. The 37-year-old star could serve as Mansoor and Madden's muscle and compete with them in the company's trios division.
#3. Dijak could challenge for the AEW TNT Championship
Seeds seem to have been planted over the past couple of weeks for an upcoming TNT Championship match between current titleholder Jack Perry and Daniel Garcia after the latter confronted The Scapegoat over his recent conduct and for his inaction against Jon Moxley and The BCC. The bout will likely take place at Full Gear 2024, and fans have speculated that The Red Death might dethrone the former Jungle Boy at the pay-per-view.
An easy way to legitimize Garcia's first reign would be to book him in a TNT Title open challenge as his first defense after Full Gear—a challenge that could be answered by Donovan Dijak. The Disruptor, known for his hard-hitting and intense in-ring style, would make for an ideal opponent for Garcia to overcome and could even serve as a long-term rival to the former JAS member.
Alternatively, if Jack Perry's reign as the TNT Champion continues, Dijak could go after the 27-year-old star before or after Full Gear.
#4. Dijak could go after the AEW Continental Championship; takes part in the Continental Classic
Despite competing in several high-profile matches this year, Kazuchika Okada's reign as Continental Champion is arguably suffering from a lack of direction as of late. His last title defense took place at Battle of the Belts XII in October, where he retained against Kyle O'Reilly. Furthermore, The Rainmaker does not seem to have an opponent being built up to challenge him, even though Full Gear 2024 is merely weeks away.
At such a time, Donovan Dijak could emerge as a worthy contender for the Continental Championship. Furthermore, even if he loses to Okada in singles competition, AEW could insert Dijak as a participant in this year's Continental Classic tournament, which is set to begin supposedly on Thanksgiving Eve.
He could undoubtedly have a star-making run in the tournament, which could lead to his position in the company being greatly elevated.
