4 Reasons why Darby Allin will become the next AEW World Champion
It's the dawn of a new era for AEW. At the recently concluded WrestleDream pay-per-view, Jon Moxley became the World Champion by decisively defeating Bryan Danielson. Moxley and his faction later laid waste to The American Dragon. The beatdown was so brutal that Danielson was stretchered out of the arena.
The next few months are going to be instrumental for All Elite Wrestling. Evil is upon them, and nobody is safe. The locker room has been put on notice, and going against the Blackpool Combat Club will be a terrible idea. However, as the saying goes, tough times create strong men. And this man will likely be none other than The Daredevil, Darby Allin.
Darby Allin has been with the company since its inception. He is one of the most popular wrestlers in the world and has an ample amount of credibility. He is a two-time TNT Champion. Allin even won the World Tag Team Championship with the legendary Sting. Fans adore him, and he is destined for greatness. Hence, there is a possibility that he will be the one to dethrone the former Dean Ambrose.
#4 AEW is in dire need of a pure babyface champion
Every current champion in AEW is a heel. While it's nice to see such dominance from the bad guys, the company needs a pure babyface to represent them. Bryan Danielson was perfect for this job. However, he has retired from full-time in-ring competition and may not return anytime soon.
The void created by Danielson's absence can easily be filled by Darby Allin. Fans love to see him wrestle because of his fearless in-ring style and high-flying moves. Hence, it is very hard not to root for him. He is a natural babyface and is perfect to be the face of the Jacksonville promotion.
#3 & #2 He is over among fans and has a claim to the AEW World Championship
Alongside MJF, Sammy Guevara, and Jack Perry, Darby Allin is one of the four pillars of AEW. He has been over among fans for years now and there have not been any signs of this support diminishing. They are well aware that he will be a World Champion someday.
Interestingly, The Invisible Man has a claim to the AEW World Title. He was originally supposed to challenge Danielson for it. However, he lost this opportunity at Dynamite: Grand Slam 2024 after getting defeated by Moxley. He definitely has his eyes on The Purveyor of Violence's newly won gold.
#1 An AEW original has not been the World Champion in a while
The last All Elite Wrestling original who won the world title was MJF. Following his reign, the championship was held by former WWE names: Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, and Jon Moxley.
It's been a long time since an All Elite Wrestling original became a World Champion. Allin is the perfect contender to secure the gold and he will certainly be backed by thousands of fans worldwide. Furthermore, Tony Khan is a fan of the face-painted wrestler.
