4 Stars you won't believe never received AEW World Championship opportunity
The AEW World Championship is the top title in the Jacksonville-based company. It is currently held by Jon Moxley. Over the years, massive names such as Kenny Omega, CM Punk, "Hangman" Adam Page, Chris Jericho, Bryan Danielson, and more have held it.
All Elite Wrestling's roster is brimming with talent. Even though the locker room has numerous names who are worthy of carrying the aforementioned title, they have never received an opportunity to win it.
Here are four such names:
#4. Fans believe that Miro has AEW World Champion written all over him
Former WWE star Miro signed with All Elite Wrestling in September 2020. Before joining the Tony Khan-led promotion, he was a WWE star. The Redeemer is a dominant in-ring competitor and has the look of a superstar.
He has a devastating submission called The Accolade, and this has won him several matches throughout his career. Even though Miro is a former TNT Champion, he has never received an AEW World Title opportunity.
Unfortunately, the erstwhile Rusev has not wrestled even once this year. Reports suggest he and the company have creative differences. Furthermore, in September 2024, he requested his release. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 39-year-old. However, it is quite unlikely that Tony Khan will ever put the world championship on him.
#3. Malakai Black
Malakai Black is the leader of the House of Black faction. When he was signed to WWE, he was known as Aleister Black. There, he held the NXT Championship once. The Antihero joined All Elite Wrestling in 2021 and locked horns with massive names in the company such as Cody Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Adam Copeland, and more.
So far in All Elite Wrestling, the 39-year-old has only held the AEW World Trios Championship (with Brody King and Buddy Matthews). Black has never received a world title opportunity, and his fans are not happy about it. They want Tony Khan to book him in feuds involving the company's top prize. Hopefully, the former WWE star's time will come in 2025.
#2. Keith Lee
Keith Lee is limitless. When he was under NXT's banner, he was booked like the star that he is. However, when Lee got promoted to WWE's main roster, things went terribly wrong. After getting released, he joined All Elite Wrestling in 2022.
Lee's career in Tony Khan's promotion has been a complicated affair. He has been involved in championship pursuits, but not for the company's top prize. So far the only title he has held in the Jacksonville-based promotion is the AEW World Tag Team Championship (with Swerve Strickland).
The 40-year-old is currently on a hiatus because he is reportedly recovering after undergoing surgery. His return timeline is unknown. However, when he returns, Tony Khan will hopefully push him into the world title picture.
#1. Killswitch (Luchasaurus)
Luchasaurus is an All Elite Wrestling original. He is a one-time TNT Champion, a one-time World Tag Team Champion, and a one-time World Trios Champion. However, he has never received an AEW World Championship opportunity.
Earlier this year, the 39-year-old was hospitalized due to double pneumonia. He is currently out of danger and has been recovering. Upon his return, Tony Khan should consider him a world title contender.
