4 ways AEW All In can outshine WWE SummerSlam
WWE SummerSlam is taking place tonight in Cleveland, Ohio. Meanwhile, AEW is getting ready to produce the second edition of its biggest annual pay-per-view, All In at Wembley Stadium, later this month.
SummerSlam 2024 boasts more than 50,000 people in attendance, and All In is slowly climbing toward a similar number, making these two events some of the most successful wrestling shows of the year. However, their ultimate success can only be determined after the night is over for both.
WWE SummerSlam is looking to be a hit with fans, but AEW has been gaining momentum over the last month. With the Jacksonville-based promotion looking to make the most of its biggest pay-per-view this year, here are a few things it could do to one-up The Biggest Party of the Summer.
#1. Build on current major storylines
It has been established at this point that great storylines can help build up anticipation and excitement for a show. To keep the momentum heading into the show, All Elite Wrestling should rely on its red-hot storylines.
These include the Title vs. Career match between Swerve Strickland and Bryan Danielson, the mentor vs. mentee feud between Toni Storm and Mariah May, and the intense rivalries between Will Ospreay and MJF, along with Britt Baker and Mercedes Moné.
Constantly featuring each of the storylines on the shows heading into the pay-per-view will keep the momentum for each going and will get fans wanting to find out how these matches will go at All In.
#2. Create memorable moments with incredible entrances
In every major wrestling pay-per-view, the entrances of each star have been one of the most highly-anticipated parts of the event. There have been a handful of entrances that have been remembered more than the matches, and AEW could add focus to this.
Last year at All In, MJF had one of the most memorable entrances of the night, as he brought back his Devil mask and made a dramatic entry for his main event match against Adam Cole. With several major stars set to appear at this year's edition of All In, each of them can steal the show starting with their entrances.
Accompanied by the large crowd's reactions, this could make for an unforgettable night.
#3. Introduce several returning or debuting AEW stars
A memorable part of pay-per-views and other major events has been the surprises introduced in the shows, apart from the incredible matches. Fans have been treated to several debuts and returns at big events over the years.
Speaking of returns, one many have clamored for is the return of Jamie Hayter, who has been out for more than a year. With AEW All In being in her home country, she could be the equalizer should Kamille get involved in Mercedes Moné and Britt Baker's match. Other returns could include the likes of Ricky Starks and Adam Cole.
As for debuts, several of these have been speculated on over the past few months, including the likes of Ricochet, Dijak, and even Shane McMahon. A high-profile event like All In could be the perfect way for them to make their debut appearances.
#4. Perfectly-paced match card
One of the complaints that some have had with AEW pay-per-views is the great number of matches, in comparison to WWE, for example, which has featured significantly fewer lately.
While this does mean more wrestling for the fans, some are not a fan of this format. Having more than 10 matches on a match card does have its merits, but the show is prone to being too overwhelming for the fans, and they lose energy and interest mid-show.
Keeping the same amount of matches is still possible as long as the pacing is right. Some less important matches can go on for shorter times, and the much more highlighted contests should go at a length perfect for matches of their caliber.
After tonight, fans will just have to stay tuned to the second edition of AEW All In to find out which of the two will end up being the best show this month.
