42-year-old star to return to AEW and confront close friend Jon Moxley's new faction? Exploring the possibility
Jon Moxley and his new faction are wreaking havoc on AEW programming. At All Out, the former Lunatic Fringe brutally attacked his former stablemate, AEW World Champion, Bryan Danielson. The segment was so violent that many fans and veterans around the globe were disgusted by it.
Although the company has not officially announced it yet, it seems like the Blackpool Combat Club is over. The members of Jon Moxley's new faction are reportedly, him, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Marina Shafir. What the future holds for this faction can not be said for now, however, they will certainly come face-to-face with Moxley's old friend and fan favorite, Eddie Kingston.
Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley are friends in real life. They have locked horns, as well as teamed up in the ring several times, and reportedly have a very strong relationship. The 42-year-old is currently sidelined due to an injury but many believe that Tony Khan will add him to the above-mentioned storyline upon his return.
At the end of the day, what Moxley and co are doing is unjustified. They need to be kept in check and, who better to do it than a believable babyface? Some fans want the Mad King to join the stable. However, it would make for better storytelling if the star stood up against his old friend and got into an intense rivalry.
Kingston is known for his no-holds-barred approach in the ring and even on the mic. Therefore, for the star to not bend down to injustice would prove to be a great story.
Eddie Kingston on meeting Jon Moxley backstage in AEW
When the erstwhile Dean Ambrose was signed to WWE, Eddie Kingston kept wrestling in the independent circuit. Moxley joined AEW in 2019 and their paths would cross once again after the 42-year-old signed for the promotion in 2020.
In an interview with TalkSport, Kingston candidly spoke about the friendship he has with the former AEW World Champion.
"It’s just how our friendship is, but Jon is one of those dudes that I would be forever grateful for having him as a friend, and I don’t call a lot of people my friend. But he’s definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, one of them," he said. [H/T TalkSport]
Eddie Kingston's exact return date has not been revealed yet, however, he is not rumored to come back anytime soon.
