5 AEW stars who should not feud with Jon Moxley
In recent months, Jon Moxley has established his stranglehold over All Elite Wrestling. At WrestleDream 2024, he dethroned Bryan Danielson to capture his record-setting fourth AEW World Championship.
Jon Moxley has recruited Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta into his newest faction, The Death Riders. The group is determined to create a better future for AEW, prompting them to eliminate individuals who do not fit into their vision.
While they have only targeted the young AEW wrestlers so far, The Death Riders could eventually find themselves face-to-face with the company's veterans. Several stars in the Tony Khan-led company have issues with Jon Moxley, and they would be eager to punish the 38-year-old star for his recent actions.
However, certain specific individuals must not cross paths with The Purveyor of Violence anytime soon. For storyline purposes, these names must stay away from The Death Riders. In this article, let's look at five AEW stars who must not feud with Jon Moxley.
#5. Eddie Kingston should not feud with Jon Moxley
Eddie Kingston is one of the most beloved babyfaces on the AEW roster. The Mad King has a storied history with Jon Moxley, as the two stars have had numerous memorable battles. The finals of the Continental Classic 2023 witnessed Eddie Kingston defeat Moxley to win the high-stakes tournament.
Despite having their fair share of differences, Kingston and Moxley cherish their friendship. However, The Last of a Dying Breed would not approve of Moxley's recent actions, which have led to chaos in All Elite Wrestling.
However, Tony Khan must not pit Kingston against The Purveyor of Violence when the former returns from his injury. The two stars have already feuded in the past, and revisiting their rivalry would not be an exciting choice.
Instead, Eddie Kingston could align himself with the AEW World Champion upon his return. The War King could again embrace his dark side by joining The Death Riders in early 2025.
It would be a genuine shocker for the fans to witness their beloved Eddie Kingston turning heel after his in-ring comeback. It would be a much more intriguing direction for The Mad King's character instead of him having another bout with Moxley.
#4. MJF's paths must not cross with Moxley
MJF and Jon Moxley are no strangers to each other. The two individuals have battled each other on a couple of occasions, with the AEW World Championship being on the line each time.
Interestingly, it was The Salt of the Earth who ended Moxley's previous World Title reign. While there is still some unfinished business between the two stars, it would be better if Tony Khan keeps MJF away from Moxley for now.
Having turned heel recently, The Wolf of Wrestling could not fit in the role of a sympathetic babyface against The Ace of AEW. There would be zero chemistry between the two heels if they were to lock horns with each other right now.
Moreover, both individuals have numerous opponents lined up who are eager to get a piece of the two despicable individuals. Having already held the AEW World Championship in the past, it would be better if MJF let other young faces step up and attempt to take out The Purveyor of Violence.
#3. Chris Jericho has been a recurring thorn in Jon Moxley's path
Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley are arch-rivals. The two veterans began their rivalry during their WWE days and have continued to be each other's nemesis. At Double or Nothing 2019, The Purveyor of Violence demolished The Lionheart in his debut appearance in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Over the past five years, Jericho and Moxley have fought each other several times under different circumstances. However, The Learning Tree must not develop issues with the newest version of Moxley, who is adamant about decimating anyone who dares to step up against him.
The Jericho vs. Moxley rivalry has seemingly run its course and does not need to be revisited. The reigning ROH World Champion has assumed the role of a gatekeeper in All Elite Wrestling, who is content working in the mid-card division.
At the age of 54, The Learning Tree should avoid making his return to the main event picture. If Chris Jericho reignites his feud with The Purveyor of Violence, it would be a step in the backward direction. The two stars have been associated with one another for a very long time, and there is not much story left to be told between them.
Instead of going after an old foe, it would be better if The Ace of AEW explores new challengers as the World Champion.
#2. Kenny Omega
Similar to Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega has already clashed with Jon Moxley multiple times. Now that The Cleaner is ready to return to the squared circle, he could possibly set his sights on The Purveyor of Violence yet again.
However, The Best Bout Machine must refrain from going after The Death Riders' leader. The two arch-rivals have headlined several shows together in the last five years, and it is now time for them to focus on new opponents.
After returning to All Elite Wrestling, Omega must conclude his rivalry with The New Elite instead of taking The Death Riders on his target. With Moxley looking to elevate the younger stars, it would be ideal if he does not waste time on established veterans like Kenny Omega.
#1. Christian Cage should not cash in his contract on Jon Moxley
At All In 2024, Christian Cage emerged victorious in the Casino Gauntlet match. By winning the high-stakes bout, he earned himself a guaranteed shot at the AEW World Championship that he could cash in at any moment.
The Patriarch attempted to capitalize on his world title opportunity several times when Bryan Danielson was still the champion. However, Cage has not dared to go after the prestigious title since Jon Moxley became the champion.
Tony Khan has done a terrific job keeping the two wicked heels apart. While a feud between Moxley and Cage would certainly be tempting, the creative team must avoid going in that direction.
The Patriarch should bide his time and strike only when the time is right. A full-fledged rivalry with Moxley won't achieve much for Captain Charisma, as they are both heels.
Christian Cage should only cash in his contract once Moxley has lost his title. Once a babyface dethrones The Ace of AEW, The Patriarch could finally pull the trigger on his cash-in to become the new AEW World Champion.
