5 AEW stars who have storylines ready in WWE if they ever wish to return
WWE's storytelling has vastly improved since Triple H took over the company's creative team. The weekly booking of the Stamford-based promotion is far more consistent these days than it was during the Vince McMahon-led regime.
The Cerebral Assassin has done a tremendous job in utilizing WWE's immense talent pool, as he has managed to include the majority of the roster in meaningful storylines. Superstars like Ethan Page, Jade Cargill, and Motor City Machine Guns, who jumped ship from other promotions to WWE, were immediately inserted into proper feuds upon their debut.
Interestingly, Triple H may have some storyline ideas ready for some specific individuals who are not even a part of WWE at the moment. Certain stars in All Elite Wrestling could explore some intriguing creative possibilities if they somehow rejoined the present-day WWE.
In this article, let's look at five stars who could be inserted into special WWE storylines if they were to leave AEW.
#5. Buddy Matthews could team with Rhea Ripley
Rhea Ripley has been engaged in a heated feud with Liv Morgan for over a year. The Eradicator has faced several ups and downs in her rivalry with the reigning Women's World Champion.
The 30-year-old star has inflicted severe damage to Ripley over the past few months, snatching away her Women's World Championship as well as her onscreen love interest, Dominik Mysterio.
The duo has been a nuisance for The Nightmare, who currently does not have a partner to tackle the couple. While the likes of Jey Uso and Damian Priest have been in her corner in the past, Rhea Ripley does not have a reliable ally who could stand by her side till the end of her rivalry with Morgan.
Things would have been quite interesting if Ripley's real-life husband, Buddy Matthews, were to enter the equation. Matthews is currently a member of the House of Black faction in AEW.
The Best Kept Secret could have emerged as a trustworthy partner for his wife if he were to join the present-day WWE. The former Cruiserweight Champion could have effectively neutralized the threat of Dominik Mysterio, who he has crossed paths with before as well.
If the Australian star had departed AEW this summer when his contract was reportedly renewed, it would have inevitably led to a mixed-tag-team bout between Matthews and Ripley vs. Morgan and Mysterio.
#4. Malakai Black could become the new leader of The Wyatt Sicks
Malakai Black is currently the leader of The House of Black in AEW. The group is one of the most mysterious entities on the AEW roster, whose supernatural presentation has always captivated fans. Interestingly, The Dutch Destroyer could lead another paranormal faction if he were to return to WWE.
The Wyatt Sicks have been wreaking havoc on the WWE roster for months. The faction currently comprises Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan, Dexter Lumis, Nikki Cross, and Joe Gacy, all of whom have kept the spirit of Bray Wyatt alive by punishing those who betrayed their family.
There have been several teases about a potential sixth member of the Wyatt Sicks. While names like Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman have often been considered as the sixth individual, Malakai Black could effectively fill that spot by switching companies.
As per recent reports, Black's contract with All Elite Wrestling is set to expire in early 2025. If The Striking Man from Amsterdam returns to WWE next year, he could potentially be revealed as the leader of the Wyatt Sicks.
Known for his incredible character work, Malakai Black could be a rightful successor to Bray Wyatt, who could keep the era of darkness alive in the Stamford-based promotion.
#3. Ruby Soho could thrive in the WWE Women's mid-card division
Ruby Soho is currently on maternity leave from All Elite Wrestling. The former leader of The Riott Squad took to social media a couple of months ago to reveal that she had given birth to her baby girl, Evie.
While Soho is not expected to resume her in-ring career anytime soon, the 33-year-old star would be eager to make an impact upon her eventual AEW return. Interestingly, the former member of The Outcasts could have a career-defining run if she were to join WWE a few months down the line.
The Stamford-based promotion recently revealed two new championships for the women's roster, the Women's United States Championship and the Women's Intercontinental Championship. The introduction of these two new titles serves as an opportunity for the underutilized female talents who have struggled to leave their marks for years.
Ruby Soho could effortlessly fit in the WWE's current women's mid-card scene. Soho could thrive under the leadership of Triple H, who could give her a lengthy run with either of the two mid-card championships. Having gained huge experience in AEW, the 33-year-old could elevate the prestige of these newly introduced titles.
#2. Miro could revive the Rusev Day character under Triple H's leadership
Miro (FKA Rusev) once had one of the hottest gimmicks in WWE. The Redeemer's Rusev Day movement in 2018 was a huge success, helping him become one of the most beloved babyfaces in the eyes of the WWE Universe.
Unfortunately, Vince McMahon could not capitalize on the immense fan support Miro had at the time. A series of bad booking decisions, including a poorly-timed breakup with Aiden English, derailed all the momentum The Bulgarian Brute had gathered.
However, things would be a lot different for the former WWE United States Champion if he were to work under Triple H. Miro is reportedly dissatisfied with his role in the Jacksonville-based promotion, prompting him to ask for his release from the Tony Khan-led company.
If the former TNT Champion returns to Titanland in the near future, he could go for a final attempt to revive the Rusev Day Movement. The Bulgarian Brute could revert to his previous name and ask the fans to board his hype train once again.
With the backing of The Game, Miro could live out his glory days as a beloved babyface. If the Rusev Day character picks up steam again, it could even lead to a World Title run for The Redeemer.
#1. Jon Moxley could have a historic feud with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins
Jon Moxley is currently among the biggest stars on the AEW roster. A significant portion of AEW's product revolves around the Purveyor of Violence and his Death Riders right now.
While Moxley's AEW departure seems highly unlikely, there are certain exciting storyline possibilities that he would love to explore in WWE. Hypothetically, if Jon Moxley shows up in WWE again someday, he could go head-to-head with his former Shield buddies, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
The Tribal Chief and The Visionary have seemingly reignited their rivalry in the last two years. While Reigns has still not forgiven Rollins for breaking up The Shield, The Architect is infuriated with The Big Dog becoming the biggest heel in the company.
Jon Moxley's potential comeback could further add intrigue to the ongoing Shield saga. Triple H would eagerly welcome The Lunatic Fringe with open arms, as he is aware of how blockbuster a Triple Threat match between the three former stablemates could be.
