5 Predictions for AEW Full Gear (November 20, 2024)
AEW Full Gear pay-per-view will take place this Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. This will be the eighth pay-per-view the promotion will held this year, so expectations remain high for this one.
So far, the show has already built up a highly anticipated match card with bitter rivalries, major title matches, and even a long-overdue segment finally being featured at the event. This year, pay-per-views have been the company's strong side, which could continue with Full Gear.
A lot can happen throughout the show, and for many of these bouts, there do not seem to be clear-cut winners. Seeing how there have been a ton of shockers in recent history, below are some last-minute predictions ahead of the pay-per-view this weekend.
#1. Toni Storm could return to AEW
After becoming the new AEW Women's World Champion at All In, Mariah May has had an impressive more than two-month reign. However, she has yet to have a formal celebration for her title win due to the absence of her good friend, Mina Shirakawa.
Now that Mina is back, she pulled the trigger and decided to hold her long-overdue Champagne Championship Celebration at AEW Full Gear. This could be the perfect way for 'Timeless' Toni Storm to make her grand return to the company.
She could end up crashing this grand celebration, rekindling their feud. Shirakawa would once more be in the middle of it all. Storm has competed alongside Shirakawa in the last few months behind Mariah's back. This could set up their grudge match either at Worlds End or further later at Grand Slam: Australia.
#2. Jack Perry's title reign could come to an end
Jack Perry has been the TNT Champion for almost five months. While he has not been in major feuds for his title, he has been one of the stars on the roster to defend this the most, being in a plethora of open challenges.
He will put the title on the line this weekend against Daniel Garcia, who looks to be one of the more determined stars on the roster. Last weekend, Perry proved how far he was willing to go to become champion, and this driving passion may help him capture his first belt in AEW.
Garcia has already had a shot at the title this year, but he has fallen short. Now that he has brought out a more unhinged demeanor, this could be enough for him to dethrone The Scapegoat.
#3. Bobby Lashley could win in his pay-per-view debut
Three weeks ago at Fright Night Dynamite, The All Mighty made his AEW debut, confronting Swerve Strickland and taking him out on his first night. His pay-per-view debut has now been made official as he is set to face the former AEW World Champion at Full Gear.
Despite Swerve being one of the most dangerous men on the roster, he will be taking on one of the most dominant men in the industry. It seems like he'll be the underdog in this match as he has a clear size and strength disadvantage. However, it seems despite this he remains unfazed and has even gone as far as to use a chain to try to even his odds.
Since he won't have his chain at the pay-per-view, he could instead request a stipulation banning The Hurt Syndicate from ringside. This would allow him to work without any interference. Bobby Lashley could end up still decimating Swerve Strickland and sending a strong message to the rest of the locker room. This would increase the credibility of the faction by a mile.
#4. Adam Cole could get involved in MJF's match
Earlier tonight, Adam Cole talked about missing out on facing MJF at AEW Full Gear and how he had full confidence that, in his stead, Roderick Strong would get the job done in dishing out punishment to him.
Kyle O'Reilly came out and pleaded him to stop going after MJF, as he did not want any of his friends to fall victim to him. He knew Friedman was always a step ahead of them, and he was scared for what he had in store for Strong at the pay-per-view.
This may force Cole to take matters into his own hands to protect his friend. He could get involved to help Roddy take the win or at least provide his assistance so that The Wolf of Wrestling does not pull off any dirty tactics. It remains to be seen whether this will be effective, or Max may have seen all this coming and made preparations.
#5. Jon Moxley could retain the AEW World Championship
In the main event of Full Gear, Jon Moxley will put his title on the line against Orange Cassidy. This will be his first title defense since dethroning Bryan Danielson at AEW WrestleDream last month.
For a few weeks now, it has been this cat-and-mouse chase between Cassidy and The Death Riders. Earlier tonight on Dynamite, they finally got their hands on him and gave him one last beating ahead of the pay-per-view.
Despite his friend's offering to be ringside with him, Orange Cassidy is determined to face Mox and the rest of the faction on his own. Tonight was proof that he was willing to sacrifice himself if it meant that no one else would get hurt.
This may ultimately lead to him losing to Jon Moxley at Full Gear, as it is almost sure that he'll have the rest of his faction waiting to do his bidding. It remains to be seen whether anyone will choose to disobey Cassidy and come to his aid.
This weekend looks to be a stacked pay-per-view for AEW, with many of these matches possibly going either way. But as the past few events have shown, anything can happen, and fans should stay tuned to see what happens this Saturday night.
