9-time WWE champion to announce his retirement immediately after losing at AEW Grand Slam? Looking at the chances

AEW Grand Slam Collision will be taking place this week, with several big names highlighting the match card. One of these matches will feature a certain WWE veteran in a stipulated matchup with a bitter rival. The veteran in question is Jeff Jarrett. Could he announce his retirement following another heartbreaking loss?

The Last Outlaw has been in the industry for almost four decades, and he now has quite the resume with a plethora of championship runs during his time with WWE and WCW. Although he has not captured a major title in AEW, he has still put on some great matches alongside some of the best on the roster.

This week, Jeff Jarrett will be facing Hangman Adam Page in a Lumberjack Strap Match. The two have become bitter rivals after the veteran accused Hangman of desecrating the integrity of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, while Page took this as Jarrett just being in his way in his quest to conquer Swerve Strickland.

Should Hangman come out on top, this could be another heartbreaking loss for JJ. He has not had the best of runs recently, and another loss might tip him over the edge and possibly force the nine-time WWE champion to make a rash decision and call it a day, seeing as he could not get the job done once more.

Jeff Jarrett almost put his AEW career on the line before

Last year, when Jeff Jarrett was feuding with Mark Briscoe, he made a bold claim during one of his promos that he would not step foot into an AEW ring should he get pinned in their match. However, it seems that the company did not clear the stipulation.

During this feud, Briscoe seemed to be the more clear-cut winner between the two, as he was the babyface. At the same time, AEW was seemingly unprepared for such a big decision.

The recorded promo was removed from all platforms, and this match became a grudge match between the two. In the end, Mark indeed took the win, which ended their feud.

Jeff, who is in his late 50s, could already be in the closing stages of his career. It remains to be seen when he'll consider retirement and whether he may be pushed to do so due to recent events.
