Adam Copeland to return and feud with AEW star he possibly has real-life heat with? Exploring the chances
Adam Copeland (FKA Edge) has been cleared for in-ring action and might return to AEW soon. He might also start a feud with AEW star Ricky Starks as the two stars possibly have real-life heat.
A few days ago, PWInsider reported that The Rated-R Superstar is cleared for in-ring action. Therefore he might return to the squared circle soon. But he won't be back until he’s finished filming the second season of "Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians" show which is expected to wrap production in January 2025. Hence, fans can expect to see him back by February next year.
In an episode of AEW Collision in October 2023, Adam Copeland and Ricky Starks had a heated argument with both parties taking shots at each other. The former FTW Champion said Copeland had bug eyes and The Ultimate Opportunist retaliated by calling Starks a vanilla midget.
The Absolute addressed the promo during a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. He mocked the WWE Hall of Famer for failing to come up with a better insult to humiliate him.
"You might as well call me a great heel because I got somebody so flustered on live TV that they stumbled and stuttered their way into one of the worst insults that you could say; that’s so passe, so 2000. A vanilla midget?"
It seems that the two stars might have some genuine tension between them. If used correctly, AEW could turn their feud into an engaging storyline. However, it is unlikely, as AEW has a history of avoiding storylines that involve real-life conflicts.
However, it would be an amazing opportunity for Tony Khan to capitalize and book a feud between former Edge and Starks. This could create a significant buzz in the wrestling world.
Ricky Starks said that his heated promo with Adam Copeland on Collision was unscripted
In his interview on Insight, Chris Van Vliet asked Ricky Starks if he went off-script at any point during the promo with Adam Copeland. The Absolute replied by saying that the promo wasn't scripted at all.
“There was no script. Ricky Starks going off script? How is that possible if there’s no script to begin with? So to speak. I didn’t say anything crazy. I just called someone bug eyes. What’s wrong with that? That’s like, how is that any different than someone calling someone fat? Am I missing the point here?”
Adam Copeland is out of action due to a broken tibia which he suffered at 2024 Double or Nothing while the reason behind Starks' absence is still unknown.
