Welcome to the latest edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s AEW News Roundup. Today we’ve got news involving top stars of the industry like Liv Morgan and Adam Cole, to name a few.
From emotional messages and surprise comebacks to championship ambitions and dream retirement scenarios. We've got some headline-making news to cover, so let's get straight into it.
#4. Top AEW star sends a message to Adam Cole
Anthony Bowens, of The Acclaimed fame, has been active in singles competitions since early this year. The 34-year-old recently expressed his desire to win the TNT Championship.
After a tough loss to Kyle Fletcher at Summer Blockbuster, Bowens took to X (fka Twitter) to re-establish his ambitions.
"And I still want this, @AdamColePro," wrote Bowens.
Meanwhile, Cole now has several contenders lining up for his title, with Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs also in the mix.
#3. Former AEW star implies Ron Killings should retire John Cena
John Cena's remarkable run in WWE started with his win over Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania to become the Undisputed WWE Champion. The Cenation leader, who is portraying a heel character, has already defended the title twice and confirmed that he will retire at the end of the year.
With Cena's limited schedule in mind, there is plenty of speculation regarding his final opponent, with one name emerging: Ron Killings (aka R-Truth ). Fans recently floated the idea that Killings should retire Cena, citing that Cena "stole his gangster gimmick." Notably, former AEW star Big Swole retweeted this fan theory.
With a staggering 60 title reigns in WWE, mostly from the 24/7 Championship, Ron Killings has carved out his place in WWE history. While he may also be nearing the twilight of his career at 53, the wrestling community believes that a final high-profile feud could be a fitting send-off for both veterans.
#2. Absent AEW star sends a message to Liv Morgan
Former WWE star and current AEW talent Ruby Soho, who has been off television since announcing her pregnancy, recently sent a heartfelt message to WWE's Liv Morgan.
In response to a fan Q&A held by Sarah Logan on Instagram, Soho reshared a throwback photo of the Riott Squad, the faction she once led alongside Liv Morgan and Logan. Logan had described it as one of her happiest times in wrestling, to which the 34-year-old star responded:
“Ditto sister! I love you both.”
While Liv Morgan continues to thrive at the top of WWE’s women’s division, Soho has been keeping fans updated on her journey as a new mother.
#1. John Silver returns after 175 days
John Silver, one of AEW’s most consistent performers and a beloved member of The Dark Order, finally made his return to Ring of Honor after a 175-day absence.
Known as “Johnny Hungee,” Silver was last seen competing through a hamstring injury at ROH Final Battle, where he and Alex Reynolds lost to the Grizzled Young Veterans.
His return was quietly marked by a backstage segment posted by ROH, featuring Silver alongside Reynolds and Evil Uno as they reignited their feud with the Frat House faction.
In the segment, Silver and The Dark Order issued strong words for Jacked Jameson and Cole Karter and even took a shot at former teammate Preston Vance.
While The Dark Order hasn’t been prominently featured on any of the Jacksonville-based promotion's main shows in recent months, they continue to maintain a strong fanbase and a presence in ROH.
