AEW News Roundup: Rhea Ripley's relationship ends, Interesting name pitched for the 6th member of the Wyatt Sicks, and more

Welcome to another edition of the AEW News Roundup. Rhea Ripley is a happily married woman, but a WWE veteran joked about him being in a relationship with The Eradicator not long ago.

The Wyatt Sicks have wreaked havoc on Monday Night RAW since their arrival. A current AEW star has been tipped to return to WWE to join forces with Uncle Howdy.

With John Cena bringing the curtain down on his legendary career, a former Intercontinental Champion has teased one final match against The Cenation Leader. Continue reading as we dive into the top three stories of the week.

#1. Jim Cornette opens up about his relationship with Rhea Ripley

In the wake of Rhea Ripley and Buddy Matthews tying the knot, former WWE manager Jim Cornette joked about having a secret affair with Mami.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Drive-Thru podcast, Cornette quipped that he and Ripley "privately" decided to end their relationship a few months ago:

"Well, we didn't want to say anything, but now that that has gone public, Rhea and I privately decided to end our relationship a few months ago and I don't blame her for on the rebound, you know, leaping into the arms of Buddy [Matthews]," joked Cornette.

Ripley and Matthews have been on a sabbatical lately from WWE and AEW, respectively. The Eradicator, however, is expected to be back in time for SummerSlam to rekindle her feud with Liv Morgan.

Meanwhile, there's no word on whether AEW has any plans to bring back Buddy Matthews after writing him off TV last month.

#2. Will AEW's Bryan Danielson become the sixth member of The Wyatt Sicks?

The Wyatt Sicks were expected to have six members based on characters from the late Bray Wyatt's Firefly Funhouse.

The villainous faction currently consists of five members - Uncle Howdy, Abby the Witch, Rambling Rabbit, Mercy the Buzzard, and Huskus the Pig Boy. Many fans and veterans alike have been questioning whether The Wyatt Sicks are one member short.

Speaking on Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the wrestling veteran was asked by a fan about the possibility of Bryan Danielson returning to WWE to become the sixth member of The Wyatt Sicks.

Mantell didn't rule out the scenario, but doubts he will be a good choice despite his history with Bray Wyatt back in the day:

"Sure, he [Bryan Danielson] could if they'd [WWE] pick him. Anybody could be the sixth Wyatt [Sicks] member. I think what you meant to say was, 'Do you think he'll be a good choice?' Oh, that's different! No, I don't think he would be a good choice. I really don't, because he'd be covering up himself, and they could get anybody to play the other part—that sixth role, I guess," Mantell said.

The American Dragon's AEW contract is set to expire soon. Will he return to his old stomping grounds? Only time will tell.

#3. Matt Cardona wants John Cena

John Cena returned to WWE at Money in the Bank last night to announce his retirement tour.

The Cenation Leader has tentatively planned 30 to 40 dates next year before hanging up his boots once and for all.

Following his bittersweet announcement, Matt Cardona (fka Zack Ryder) took to his official X/Twitter handle to call out John Cena for a future showdown.

Matt Cardona, John Cena, and Eve Torres were involved in an infamous storyline back in 2012. It will be interesting to see if the two men will share the ring again.
