Welcome to another edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's AEW News and Rumor roundup. Today we're looking at stories involving the debut of a big star in WWE, a potential return, and more cryptic messages from Rey Fenix.
Konnan has given us more insight into the return of a massive name in professional wrestling and another star claims he's made peace with his in-ring retirement. So, let's not wait any longer and dive deep into all of these stories.
#1. WWE has teased the debut of Pentagon JR.
WWE has now officially teased the debut of former AEW star, Pentagon Jr. and the fans went nuts for it.
Penta has been absent from Tony Khan's promotion for the last few months but his name has been picking up steam recently. Rumors have come up regarding him and his brother's Rey Fenix imminent arrival in the sports entertainment company.
During Monday Night RAW, a vignette aired that flashed a logo synonymous with Penta.
There's no telling as of now when Pentagon will finally appear on WWE TV, but fans theorize that it may happen once RAW moves to Netflix soon.
#2. Konnan seemingly confirmed that Jimmy Jacobs will return to AEW soon
Konnan is adamant that he thinks a major star is returning to All Elite Wrestling after he left the promotion recently.
The star in question is Jimmy Jacobs, who left the promotion in October this year after joining as a producer back in 2023.
Konnan has now stated over on the Keepin' It 100' podcast that he knows Jimmy Jacobs will return after hearing about it from a reliable source.
"Yeah, but I think he's coming back. [...] I believe so, yeah. [...] I don't know if that's hot news but it's pretty good. It's news that was told to me from a pretty good source." [From 01:15 to 01:30]
#3. Rey Fenix has spoken out amidst the AEW controversy
Rey Fenix has posted another cryptic image on social media amidst growing controversy. He has been absent from AEW TV since July 2024, with his last appearance being a match with Tony Nese on Collision.
Rey Fenix had been rumored to be departing the company with his real-life brother, Pentagon Jr. However, Tony Khan has added injury time to his contract and is unable to join his brother in WWE for now.
Fenix had previously posted tweets seemingly pointing at the inhumane treatment he has received in AEW. He has since deleted the posts. The former International Champion has now posted over on Instagram and seemingly referenced the controversy.
#4. AEW star claims he has made peace with in-ring retirement
A familiar face over on AEW, Sonjay Dutt has opened up about his retirement from in-ring action several years ago.
The 42-year-old star is usually featured alongside his allies Satnam Singh, Jay Lethal, Jeff, and Karen Jarrett. Sonjay has wrestled in multiple matches for the promotion in the past but hasn't been an active competitor for a few years now.
Speaking with Mike Jones in a recent interview, Dutt took a look at the cumulative physical issues which piled up at the end of his career and his transition to other responsibilities.
"I have totally made peace with that. I made peace with that towards the last couple of years of me being an in-ring competitor. Injuries catch up and life changes you. I have a wife and two kids. I tore my Achilles, and my shoulder was in bad shape. it was just a whirlwind of everything that happened at the perfect time to where I transitioned and started learning more and more about the backstage production aspect and the office roles. Everything happens for a reason. No complaints," Dutt said. [H/T - Fightful]
Before retiring, Dutt used to actively compete back in TNA and performed some of his best work there.
