AEW News & Rumor Roundup: Huge debut announced; top star removed and replaced; Adam Copeland's heartbreaking post
Welcome to another edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's AEW News & Rumor Roundup. Today we will take a look at a major debut announcement. Additionally, a former IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion was replaced from the AEW Continental Classic due to injury.
Adam Copeland also shared a heartbreaking update on. So without ado, let's begin:
#3. Kazuchika Okada to make his AEW Rampage debut
Japanese star Kazuchika Okada has been signed to All Elite Wrestling for a while now. However, he has never wrestled on Rampage. However, this will change on Friday as he is scheduled to lock horns with Mark Briscoe at the Continental Classic tournament.
Tony Khan made the official announcement on X (fka Twitter).
"This Friday, 12/6, 10pm ET/9pm CT on TNT, Friday Night #AEWRampage, Continental Classic Blue League, Mark Briscoe vs AEW Continental Champion @rainmakerXokada, With both men pursuing points in the C2, @SussexCoChicken fights Continental Champ Okada on a STACKED Rampage this Friday!" he wrote.
The Rainmaker has held the AEW Continental Championship for more than 250 days. He won it by defeating the inaugural champion Eddie Kingston on Dynamite.
#2. Juice Robinson has been replaced by Komander in the Continental Classic tournament
Juice Robinson was one of the participants of the Continental Classic. In his first match of the tournament, he was defeated by Will Ospreay. Unfortunately during this showdown, he got injured. Reports suggest that he has broken his foot.
Since he will not be able to compete in the tournament, Tony Khan announced that Juice will be replaced by All Elite Wrestling star Komander. The luchador will enter the contest with one loss to his name.
"Due to injury, Juice Robinson cannot complete the #AEWContinentalClassic. Aiming to prove that he can hang with the world’s very best, high flying rising star @KomandercrMX will join the field as Gold League first alternate, + the upcoming schedule will be adjusted accordingly," Khan wrote.
It remains to be seen when Juice Robinson will make a full recovery and return to in-ring action. He is a member of The Bang Bang Gang.
#1. Adam Copeland sends a message of solidarity
A few weeks ago, Hurricane Helene struck Western North Carolina. This calamity caused immense damage to life and property.
The city of Asheville, North Carolina is home to several wrestlers including All Elite Wrestling star Adam Copeland. He recently posted a message on his Instagram story where he wrote about rebuilding together. Even though it will take a while for Asheville to completely recover from this tragedy, The Rater-R Superstar is hopeful for the future.
"This is Swannanoa River today. Through snow, rain, or freezing cold, we keep working. [flexed biceps emoji] Together, We Will Rebuild. [heart emoji] #CommunityResilience #WeWillRebuild #NeverGiveUp #StrongerTogether #NatureAndHope," reads the post with the video below.
The former Edge is currently sidelined due to an injury he sustained earlier this year in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match against Malakai Black. He is rumored to make his much-anticipated return in the upcoming months.
