AEW News & Rumor Roundup: Top star might NEVER return again, The Young Bucks in trouble, Mercedes Moné backstage issues, WWE debut confirmed?
In the December 18, 2024, edition of AEW News & Rumor Roundup, we will cover several trending topics. We will discuss how a star might never return to the Jacksonville-based promotion and why The Young Bucks could be in trouble, among other stories.
Mercedes Mone has seemingly been having backstage issues. Meanwhile, a star's WWE debut has been confirmed by reliable sources. So without further ado, let's begin.
#1 Is Kamille done with AEW?
Before joining the Tony Khan-led company, Kamille was a popular name in the NWA, where she held the NWA World Women's Championship. She signed with AEW in February 2024 but didn't appear on TV until July.
Upon her debut at Blood and Guts 2024, she immediately allied with Mercedes Mone as the latter's henchwoman and bodyguard.
The duo had a good partnership until The CEO started feuding with Kris Statlander. Troubled by her rivalry with Statlander, Mone began taking out her frustrations on The Brickhouse. Kamille kept up with her boss for weeks but ultimately quit her job due to the TBS Champion's demeanor. She hasn't been seen on AEW TV since then.
Speaking on the matter on the Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that Kamille might never return to AEW.
#2 Kamille addressed backstage issues with Mercedes Mone
Presumably, as part of their storyline, Kamille wasn't happy with how Mercedes Mone treated her, so she broke the alliance and abandoned the Jacksonville-based company. During an interview with Covalent TV, she commented on her situation with The CEO and what led to her quitting her job.
"I was brought up very respectfully; if you don’t got something nice to say, just don’t say anything. So, I’ve been holding my tongue, holding my tongue, but I’ve had enough. I’ve had enough. I had to give her a little piece of my mind, give her the line back that she’s been giving me so often, but instead of being physical, which she might have deserved, I walked away. So now I'm kind of regrouping, replanning what's gonna happen," said Kamille.
#3 Jack Perry is upset with The Young Bucks
The Young Bucks lost their AEW World Tag Team Title to Private Party in October. After their defeat, they announced that they would work from home as AEW had become too chaotic because of Jon Moxley and Death Riders' rampage in the company.
They recently made their return to TV but not in AEW. They made a surprise appearance on NJPW Strong Style Evolved to save Jack Perry from Los Ingobernables de Japon's attack.
During a post-event interview, Perry voiced his grievance with the Jackson brothers for abandoning him, which also cost him the TNT Championship. The EVPs admitted their mistake and promised to resolve their issues off-camera.
#4 Reports suggest Pentagon Jr.'s WWE debut is confirmed
Pentagon Jr.'s AEW contract ended in November. He is a free agent now and is rumored to make a move to WWE. This week's edition of Monday Night RAW featured a video hinting at the arrival of a new star on RAW's Netflix premiere. Many fans speculated that the teaser video package was for the former World Tag Team Champion.
WrestleVotes confirmed that the teaser was indeed meant for the popular luchador during a recent edition of Q&A on Backstage Pass.
"A source confirmed that's likely Penta. He didn't wanna go on record and say it was. It certainly seems like it is. You know, Joe, when they do these packages in house they're trying to keep something a surprise. They're not gonna label it; even the people making it may not be sure what it's for. But I did talk to somebody who said it was likely Penta. So, look for Pentagon on January 6th."
#5 MJF sets a new personal record
MJF has broken a personal record and set a new one recently. He posted a clip of himself setting a new belt squat machine personal record on his Instagram account. Fans can see him move 920 pounds with ease.
Friedman used this opportunity to show off and intimidate his arch-rival Adam Cole, whom he would face later this month at AEW Worlds End.
The Wolf of Wrestling and The Panama City Playboy have been feuding since last year. They had to halt their rivalry due to injuries but are back in the game and ready to take each other down.
