AEW performer rejects Tony Khan’s contract offer: Could WWE be the next step for a family reunion?
Several names in the industry have been making their way to WWE, and the company has been on a roll recently. However, following a popular AEW performer who seemingly has no plans of officially signing with them, could he instead make his way to the Stamford-based promotion?
This would be Matt Cardona, who has always been linked to a reunion with his wife, Chelsea Green. It was reported that the idea was floated around, but it ended up being a quick thought and nothing concrete. Currently, Cardona is not signed to any company and remains a top performer on the independent circuit. It seems he also has no plans to commit to a major promotion.
Should Triple H and his team change their minds, Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green have expressed a desire to work together, and WWE could accommodate that. They could be booked as an intergender tag team under the promotion. The couple has openly supported each other's endeavors despite no longer working together in the same company.
Matt Cardona has a claim to Chelsea Green's WWE titles
Back in July, Matt Cardona made a bold claim, as he mentioned how if his wife, alongside Sonya Deville, wins the Women's Tag Team Championship, he'll bring them along to the independent circuit. He did not back down on his words and wore this around his waist during DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2023.
Cardona did the same recently when Green became the inaugural Women's United States Champion. They took a picture at Disneyland, and the Indy God was the one raising the title, saying he was now one-half champion. It seems that the couple shares each other's achievements.
Although, as of now, this is unlikely, you can never rule out anything in the wrestling world. Fans will have to stay tuned to see whether they'll see Zack Ryder again in WWE.
