Beloved star to join The Death Riders and become AEW's nWo Hulk Hogan? Exploring the gigantic swerve
A top AEW star might shock fans and join Jon Moxley's Death Riders faction upon his return. The star in question is former world champion Kenny Omega, who is set to return to the ring at Wrestle Dynasty. However, he could also appear in All Elite Wrestling to pull off a major twist that can be compared to Hulk Hogan's nWo heel turn.
Kenny Omega has been absent from in-ring competition in AEW since December 2023 due to diverticulitis. The Cleaner underwent surgery and recently announced his return to the squared circle for the Wrestle Dynasty pay-per-view in January 2025. Kenny Omega is set to face rising NJPW star Gabe Kidd in his first match back.
Amid The Cleaner's absence, All Elite Wrestling has undergone some huge changes. First, it was The Elite (The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Jack Perry) who tried to take over the company. However, the group has slowed down in the past few months. Meanwhile, Jon Moxley has become the world champion with help from The Death Riders.
Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, and Marina Shafir have been wreaking havoc in AEW. However, more shocking twists in The Death Riders could occur after Kenny Omega's return to NJPW. The Cleaner could make a huge comeback to AEW and turn heel to align himself with the stable.
One of his reasons for turning heel could be the brutal ambush on him from The Elite earlier this year. This might bring major heat to The Death Riders and could be put in the same category as Hulk Hogan joining nWo in WCW. The Best Bout Machine has been loyal to AEW since its inception, and no one would expect the fan favorite to betray the company.
Gabe Kidd sends a message to AEW star Kenny Omega
Kenny Omega and Gabe Kidd are set to collide at the Wrestle Dynasty pay-per-view next month. This will mark The Cleaner's first match back since being diagnosed with diverticulitis.
In a backstage promo at NJPW Strong Style Evolved, Strong Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd sent a message to Kenny Omega. Kidd claimed that he was looking forward to bringing Omega down at Wrestle Dynasty.
"You don’t get that s**t in Toledo, Ohio. You don’t get that shot in Phoenix, Arizona. The heart and soul of pro wrestling is in Korakuen Hall, and you know it. You made your bed, Kenneth. Now f***ing lie in it. Better yet, you dug your grave, Kenneth. I’m happy to put you in it." [H/T: Fightful]
Fans will have to wait and see who comes out on top between Kenny Omega and Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty in January.
