Bryan Danielson to return for one final AEW match against 47-year-old legend? Exploring the chances
Bryan Danielson is a wrestling legend. He is best known for his stint in WWE where his on-screen name was Daniel Bryan. In September 2021, he joined All Elite Wrestling.
In AEW, The American Dragon locked horns with popular names such as Swerve Strickland, Kyle Fletcher, Zack Sabre Jr., Brian Cage, Jon Moxley, and more. In addition, he was a member of the Blackpool Combat Club. However, his biggest achievement in the Tony Khan-led promotion was winning the AEW World Championship. Unfortunately, he retired from being a full-time competitor after he lost the title to Moxley at WrestleDream.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Leader of the 'Yes!' Movement. He could either go back to WWE or make an AEW return. Interestingly, if he does wrestle one last time for the Jacksonville-based promotion, it should be against Josh Barnett.
Barnett and Danielson have been friends and training partners for ages. They are both Washington natives and even though they have known each other for a long time, they have never met in the squared circle. The 47-year-old recently revealed his desire to lock horns with the former AEW World Champion before the latter officially retired.
"I hope that if he’s gonna retire, then I at least get a chance to meet him in the ring at least one time. I’ve known him forever, we’ve done tours together, I’ve trained him on submission wrestler at times, a great guy, another Washingtonian," said Barnett. [H/T Fightful]
Kofi Kingston believes that Bryan Danielson is one of the greatest
WWE star Kofi Kingston defeated Bryan Danielson at WrestleMania 35 and won the WWE Championship. Interestingly, the New Day member believes The American Dragon is one of the greatest.
"Daniel Bryan, I think, is one of the greatest. He's got to be one of the top 5 of all time for a lot of different reasons," said the 43-year-old.
In the Stamford-based company, Bryan Danielson won the WWE Championship four times and the World Heavyweight Championship once.
