Current AEW champion's title to be revoked by Tony Khan for crashing wrestling event? Potential move explored

Last night, a major AEW star showed up at a wrestling event, attacking his current rival and one of the stars featured on the show. Could Tony Khan take action, and make him pay for his actions? This would be Chris Jericho.

The simple answer is no, seeing as this angle is mainly part of the ongoing storyline between Jericho and Matt Cardona. However, this seemingly got complicated since it was on GCW, where stars from AEW have been pulled out of shows recently. This segment may also be an effort to mend fences between both promotions, with one of AEW's major names, The Nueve, appearing on the show.

As of this point, it seems that many within both AEW and ROH believe that having Chris Jericho as the champion is the right move, as reports have indicated that he could be the one that elevates the promotion. A high-profile name like him could put a bigger spotlight on ROH, and help in possible negotiations with TV deals moving forward.

With this, it remains to be seen whether they will pull the trigger on Matt Cardona dethroning Jericho, or whether this may just be built up as a high-intensity feud between two major stars with a lot of history.

The former AEW World Champion has sent a stern warning to Matt Cardona

After his visit to GCW, Chris Jericho sent out a message to Matt Cardona as he was able to get the job done last night and attack The Indy God when he least expected it. He claimed that he was ready to face him at Final Battle.

"...Hi @themattcardona 👋🌳 You didn’t think that the King of New York would pop up in Los Angeles at your @gamechangerwrestling Indy Event, did you? You made a big mistake forgetting who you’re dealing with…… I always get my man! See you at #rohfinalbattle. @aew @ringofhonor," Jericho posted.

It is unclear yet whether all is well between GCW and the Tony Khan-led promotion, but now, all roads turn to Final Battle this Friday. Chris Jericho will look to make his second title defense since becoming the ROH World Champion, and he'll have a tall task ahead of him.
