Current AEW star to team up with Rey Mysterio amid rumors of WWE move? Exploring the possibility
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio could team up with a current AEW star for a special event this weekend. The All Elite Wrestling talent is rumored to sign with the Stamford-based promotion after his contract expires.
The AEW star in question is none other than Penta El Zero Miedo. After being an original in the Tony Khan-led promotion for the past five years, Penta is rumored to leave the company and join WWE once his contract is up. Furthermore, the former World Tag Team Champion's brother and tag team partner, Rey Fenix, is also rumored to leave alongside him.
It was recently reported that this week Penta El Zero Miedo will be in Orlando, where the WWE Performance Center is located. Interestingly, the Stamford-based promotion announced that Rey Mysterio would have a special guest tag team partner for a Fanatics Fest event in New York City on August 17. The Hall of Famer's partner could be Penta El Zero Miedo.
Assuming that Penta could be visiting the Performance Center this week, he could very well be revealed as the special guest tag team partner of The Master of the 619. Furthermore, Mysterio could put over the AEW star during the event this weekend in New York City and announce him as WWE's latest signing.
It will be interesting to see whether Penta actually turns out to be Mysterio's guest tag team partner.
Rey Mysterio provided an update on his return
Rey Mysterio has not been on TV for quite some time now. Nonetheless, The Master of the 619 has been in action at live events for the past few weeks.
Mysterio recently shared a post on his Instagram handle to update fans about his health. He also revealed that Clearlight infrared saunas had been helping him recover.
Only time will tell when Mysterio will appear on TV again and what the Triple H-led creative team will have in store for him upon his return.
