Death Riders' last warning; AEW star taken hostage? - 7 things that could happen on the final Dynamite before Full Gear
AEW will host the 2024 edition of its annual event Full Gear on November 23. However, days before that, the company will air its flagship show Dynamite on November 20 from Reading, PA. Most of the top stars currently featured in the promotion, including Jon Moxley, Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, Mercedes Mone, and more, are likely to appear in the episode.
Full Gear is one of AEW's most anticipated pay-per-views of the year. Tony Khan and his creative team could try to generate even further hype for this year's iteration of the event by booking a compelling go-home episode of Dynamite this Wednesday. Let us look at 7 possible things that could happen on the aforementioned show.
#1: Orange Cassidy beats Wheeler Yuta ahead of AEW World Title match at Full Gear 2024
A former master will once again be pitted against his former protege as Orange Cassidy takes on Wheeler Yuta one-on-one on Dynamite this week. Last week on Collision, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley wondered whether the Freshly Squeezed star would strike down his former ally with hostile intent in light of The Death Riders brutalizing Chuck Taylor last month.
While Yuta will no doubt want to finally earn a singles victory over OC after having suffered multiple losses to him last year, the latter may emerge victorious against the 28-year-old and gain momentum heading into his AEW World Title bout against Moxley at Full Gear.
#2: Don Callis Family wins All-Star multi-person tag
All Elite Wrestling continues its weekly tradition of presenting barnburner multi-person matches on Dynamite this week, as Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Brian Cage, and Lance Archer take on the alliance of Will Ospreay, Mark Davis, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Ricochet in an All-Star eight-person tag bout. The match will undoubtedly allow all of the talent involved to showcase their unmatched in-ring skills.
In order to build further audience heat against Fletcher ahead of his Full Gear match against Ospreay, the Dynamite tag match could end with The Protostar securing the win for The Don Callis Family by pinning The Aerial Assassin. The bout could also further the story of Ricochet's pursuit of Takeshita's AEW International Title.
#3: HOOK demands a Full Gear match against Christian Cage
Last week on Dynamite, Christian Cage teamed up with Hangman Page to deal with their mutual enemies, Jay White and Juice Robinson of The Bang Bang Gang. The Patriarch's stable-mate Nick Wayne's attempts at interfering on his "father's" behalf were thwarted by HOOK, who has a bone to pick with The Patriarchy for assaulting his father Taz some time ago.
The former FTW Champion was shown brawling with The Prodigy out of the arena last week. AEW could produce an angle this Wednesday where HOOK holds Wayne hostage and demands a match against Christian at Full Gear. The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil could also go after Cage's new "son" Kip Sabian to coerce a PPV match against The Instant Classic.
#4: Jay White goes after Hangman Page
The tag match mentioned above from last week's Dynamite saw Adam Page pick up the victory for his team, courtesy of interference from Kip Sabian and Shayna Wayne. The former AEW World Champion is scheduled to face Jay White at Full Gear this Saturday.
The Switchblade, in all probability, took exception to the way Page pinned Juice Robinson the week prior. He could thus look to send a message to his nemesis ahead of their imminent pay-per-view encounter, possibly by ambushing The Hangman on Dynamite.
#5: Mercedes Mone gets even with Kris Statlander
For the past couple of weeks, Mercedes Mone has been having trouble dealing with her TBS Title challenger for Full Gear 2024, Kris Statlander. The latter dodged The CEO and her associate Kamille trying to run her over on November 6 and retaliated against both women by sending them through a wall last week.
Statlander is set to square off against Hikaru Shida this week on AEW Dynamite. The former Sasha Banks could spoil Born Again Kristen's current win streak by interfering in the match along with Kamille, destroying both Statlander and former rival Shida and asserting her dominance as TBS Champion ahead of this Saturday.
#6: Darby Allin beats Claudio Castagnoli, but is taken out by The Death Riders
Darby Allin and Claudio Castagnoli are set to battle in singles action for the first time ever this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. The matchup stemmed from the former TNT Champion going after The Swiss Superman in recent weeks as he aids the locker room's war with The Death Riders.
While both Allin and Castagnoli will certainly put on an in-ring clinic, The King of Swing could take an upset loss at the hands of the Washington native, lending the latter a huge boost in credibility. Furthermore, Allin could be viciously assaulted afterwards by The Death Riders and Jon Moxley, in The One True King's final violent message to Orange Cassidy ahead of Full Gear.
#7: Swerve Strickland turns the tables on The Hurt Syndicate
Last week on Dynamite, Swerve Strickland suffered another beatdown at the hands of The Hurt Syndicate, who are determined to make The New Flavor suffer the consequences of rejecting their alliance. The former AEW World Champion recently indicated that the faction's repeated assaults have been taking a worrying toll on his body.
If his scheduled Full Gear 2024 match against Bobby Lashley is still on, Strickland could take his revenge against The Hurt Syndicate by planning a retaliatory ambush on the stable this week on Dynamite. This would, in turn, heighten anticipation regarding Swerve's upcoming blockbuster bout against The All Mighty.
