Did Vince McMahon buy AEW? Know the truth of the ongoing rumor
Vince McMahon is a globally known figure who is most famous for his contributions to the growth of WWE as an international pro wrestling giant. However, the former Chairman of the Stamford-based company is no longer involved with the promotion after allegations of sexual misconduct were brought against him earlier this year.
Although many believe McMahon is done with the wrestling business, rumors have been circulating lately linking him to AEW. On the heels of a recent meeting between Tony Khan and Shane McMahon, a section of fans and industry experts have been speculating on the prospect of Shane's father, Vince, buying All Elite Wrestling. However, the speculations are untrue, as Tony and his father, Shahid Khan, currently own AEW. So, VKM did not buy the Jacksonville-based promotion.
The wrestling world has been buzzing since Shane-O-Mac confirmed his meeting with TK last month. Conjecture suggesting that The Prodigal Son could be All Elite bound did not take long to spread as fans debated in what capacity McMahon could arrive in AEW. On the other hand, former WWE writer Vince Russo has suggested a more radical possibility of Vince McMahon working alongside Shane to purchase AEW.
The former WWE head honcho is undoubtedly one of the most successful entrepreneurs to enter the wrestling business. Given his role in expanding the sports entertainment juggernaut to its current stature, many believe he could play a similar role in the Tony Khan-led promotion. However, McMahon has been under federal investigation recently and is arguably not a prominent presence in the industry as of late.
AEW recently celebrated its fifth anniversary. According to Tony Khan, is in a strong position amid the company's ongoing media rights negotiation. As such, the odds of the 41-year-old sports executive selling AEW to Vince McMahon are emphatically slim.
Tony, who is a co-owner of AEW alongside his father, Shahid, is currently building the card for the promotion's upcoming pay-per-view, All In 2024. Whether Shane McMahon will make an appearance at the event or in the company's programming in general remains to be seen.
AEW's Mercedes Mone kept her marriage separation a secret from Vince McMahon
AEW star Mercedes Mone recently confirmed rumors of her divorce from her ex-husband, Sarath Ton.
In a shocking revelation on her YouTube channel, The CEO claimed that she and Ton had been separated around December 2020 and that the former couple had decided to keep their separation a secret from Vince McMahon as Mone did not want the latter to alter her booking for WrestleMania 37, which she wished to main event.
The former WWE Smackdown Women's Champion also kept mum about splitting up with Ton because she supposedly did not want to be paired on-screen with Reggie, whom she had worked with around a difficult personal time then.
WWE's creative is currently helmed by Triple H, who is married to Vince's daughter Stephanie McMahon.
