Former AEW champion to return as Jack Perry's mystery opponent for Grand Slam? Looking at the chances
A former AEW champion could face Jack Perry and seek revenge on him. The star being discussed is Kenny Omega. The Best Bout Machine has been absent from AEW since December 2023, suffering from diverticulitis.
While he appeared on TV in May this year, he was attacked by the Scapegoat and the rest of the Elite. He hasn't been seen since then. However, it seems like the star is seemingly ready to step foot in the squared circle, as he was seen training with Kota Ibushi. Meanwhile, the TNT Champion has been having a great reign in the promotion for a few weeks. Interestingly, Perry has been delivering some moves that Kenny Omega hit during his bouts.
This means AEW could be planning this contest for a long time. Recently, the promotion announced that Jack Perry will be hosting an open challenge on Collision: Grand Slam. Kenny Omega could answer it and even defeat him to become the new champion. After being incompetent to defend the title, Perry could be kicked out of the Elite.
Kurt Angle lavishes praise on AEW star Kenny Omega
Kurt Angle has a huge catalog of classic matches in WWE and TNA. The Hall of Famer recently talked about Kenny Omega.
While speaking on K&S WrestleFest, Kurt Angle praised the former AEW World Champion and said he could have a five-star match with any wrestler. He also claimed that he liked the match between Kenny and Will Ospreay from 2023.
"I love Kenny Omega, I think he’s a great talent. He can have a five-star match with just about anybody, the kid’s really well-versed. I didn’t know about his injuries but man, I saw the one match with him and [Will Ospreay]. That was a match to remember. They really lit it up that night," Angle said.
It will be interesting to see if Kenny Omega or any other absent stars answer the open challenge for the TNT Title.
