Former champion to return on AEW Dynamite this week and confront Hangman Page? Exploring the possibility
'Hangman' Adam Page has been scheduled for a match on the upcoming edition of AEW Dynamite against a popular star. Could this be the reason for an absent star to finally make his return and confront the former World Champion? The name being discussed is Jay White.
Earlier tonight on Collision: Grand Slam, members of the Bang Bang Gang were ringside as lumberjacks for the Lumberjack Strap Match between 'Hangman' Adam Page and Jeff Jarrett. At a point in the bout, Page began attacking the lumberjacks, including Juice Robinson and The Gunns. The altercation could now lead to White's comeback.
This heated situation forced Robinson to retaliate against Adam Page, and the latter did not take this well, choosing the Bang Bang Gang member as his next target. AEW has now booked a match between the two for Dynamite. Following this bout, should Page take the win, he could continue to dish out punishment to Robinson, forcing Switchblade to make his return.
Jay White has not been seen inside the ring since July. It was reported that he had sustained a significant foot injury and was recovering. White's surprise comeback could set up a feud between him and Adam Page. It is interesting to note that Page was his last opponent before he went down with an injury. Moreover, The Anxious Millennial Cowboy eliminated Switchblade from the 2024 Owen Hart Cup.
AEW reportedly hoped to have Jay White in the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In
Jay White's injury forced him to miss two major pay-per-views. Meanwhile, a report suggested that there were plans for him to be at All In last month.
Sean Ross Sapp mentioned during Fightful's Q&A Podcast a few weeks ago that the company had plans to bring the former World Trios Champion back for All In. He was reportedly backstage a week before the promotion headed over to the UK but was unfortunately not cleared by the medical team.
It was also mentioned that the management was hoping that he would be available to compete in the Casino Gauntlet Match. Despite White's absence, the contest turned out to be a show stealer, featuring several surprising names, including Nigel McGuinness, Zack Sabre Jr., and Ricochet.
"AEW was hoping to have him back for AEW All In, but he went to AEW Dynamite the week before the trip over to the UK and he didn’t get cleared. His status hasn’t changed. They were hopeful he could do the Casino Gauntlet." [H/T: Ringside News]
Jay White's status is still unclear, so fans will just have to stay tuned to see whether he shows up during Dynamite's fifth-anniversary show.
