Former WWE NXT Champion planned to open a wrestling school if he was forced to retire
Many WWE stars have found more creative freedom in AEW, and some have even reinvented themselves. Adam Cole was a major signing for the promotion, but his career was nearly cut short after an injury. The star recently looked back on the severity of his injury and what he would have done if he had been forced to retire.
Cole's departure from WWE and subsequent AEW debut lined him up to be a massive star in the promotion. Many fans have been clamoring for him to regain the level of prominence he had in WWE, and his shocking injury nearly ended all hopes of this.
During his recent appearance on the Swerve City Podcast, Adam Cole speculated what he'd have spent his time doing if his wrestling career ended.
"I'm thinking, maybe I'll Twitch stream. Maybe I'll do something in gaming. Maybe I'll start a wrestling school. I was really, mentally trying to prepare myself for that happening."
Cole continued:
"Being cleared and being able to come back and travel again and being on an airplane, walk out to the ring, and have a match; my goal going forward is just be able to continue to wrestle." (H/T Fightful)
Adam Cole's last championship was the WWE NXT Championship, but according to reports, it seems that the star is planned to enter into a major feud with AEW World Champion MJF and will get another shot at gold in the promotion.

The former WWE NXT Champion recently experienced the "favorite moment" of his career
Many fans cite Cole's NXT run as their favorite moment of the star's own career, but it seems like the Panama Playboy has different standards than his most loyal followers.
Continuing in the same interview, Adam Cole recalled his return match against Daniel Garcia, and the celebration with Britt Baker and the fans afterward.
"It was my favorite moment of my career because of how much it meant to me and how for months and months, I thought I wasn't going to be able to come back. At this point I have goals. I want to move up the ranks in AEW and challenge for and someday be a world champion." (H/T Fightful)
Cole also noted that he has a new appreciation for his job, and seems to be enjoying every moment. Any fans possibly still holding onto a WWE return for the Panama Playboy might have to wait even longer, as this career scare has seemingly strengthened his bond with AEW.
