Former WWE stars to turn heel at Full Gear due to backstage frustration in AEW? Exploring potential twist
AEW has many former WWE Superstars in its ranks, and they are doing relatively well. Names like Jon Moxley and Mercedes Mone come to mind.
The company has been a breath of fresh air for them, and they continue to thrive. However, while names like Moxley and Mone have been enjoying success, that can't be said about all the former WWE names in the company. One such group is FTR. The duo was the torchbearer of the AEW tag team division for a long time. However, a slew of off-field problems has derailed their momentum, and they are now playing catch-up. Things have gotten so bad that they don't even have a match at Full Gear.
Given that their face run has not gone according to plan, they could show up and turn heel by costing the Outrunners their Fatal Four-way match at Full Gear. This could set up a new feud for the two teams and give FTR a new lease of life.
Former WWE star Cash Wheeler almost retired from wrestling
One-half of FTR, Cash Wheeler, was involved in a few off-the-ring troubles last year. One of them was charged with aggravated assault after he pointed his gun in a bit of road rage.
Dax Harwood, who has been his partner for a long time and even during their time in WWE, spoke about how Wheeler wanted to retire and how he talked him out of it. He was speaking on a recent edition of AEW Close Up when he said:
"I guess a week after he told me what happened — he said, 'I think I'm going to retire because I don't want to subject you to any of this stuff that I'm going through.' He knew the backlash on Twitter because it's a cesspool. 'I'm just going to retire. You don't have to worry because your contract is with you. I'm going to leave wrestling.' I had to talk him into not retiring."
With the hard times over, FTR will be looking to make a mark in AEW, which could start at Full Gear.
