New Elite member, AEW star to turn heel in front of hometown, Ex-WWE name to win title? 6 Bold predictions for Dynamite’s 5-year Anniversary
This coming Wednesday, AEW Dynamite's special episode to celebrate its fifth anniversary will be taking place. This comes just a week after the promotion held Dynamite: Grand Slam.
Several blockbuster matches have already been booked for the show including Will Ospreay and Ricochet facing off for the first time in seven years. It is also less than two weeks till the promotion's next pay-per-view, WrestleDream.
The show will not only celebrate a major milestone by the company but may also feature some major developments regarding the direction several storylines may be headed next. But just what could happen on Wednesday night?
#1. Shane McMahon finally arrives in AEW and aligns with The Elite
It has been speculated for some time that Shane McMahon could be on the way to AEW. This all started when he was spotted in a meeting with Tony Khan.
However recently, he was spotted with the Young Bucks at an airport, and this has also fueled the rumors. The Elite will surely be around for tomorrow's show seeing as not only are the Bucks the EVPs, but they also hold championship gold.
They could introduce Shane O'Mac as the newest member of the faction, and someone who could help manage their affairs moving forward. This would be a major statement to the rest of the roster, seeing as Shane is well-versed in the business.
#2. Ricochet shockingly dethrones Will Ospreay due to the Don Callis Family
On Wednesday, the highly-awaited match between Will Ospreay and Ricochet will take place. Both men have been on great runs this year, with them being touted as major stars in the company.
Last week, Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher were unsuccessful in challenging the Young Bucks for their tag team title. The Aerial Assassin's hesitation to use dirty tactics to secure the win cost them the match and that may come back to bite him.
The AEW International Championship will be on the line during the match on Wednesday. Don Callis called for a favor from Ospreay as he wanted to bring the tag team title home. As he was unsuccessful he could cost Will his title instead. A new champion may be crowned due to this interference.
#3. Swerve Strickland rejects MVP's offer
MVP's AEW debut last week surprised everyone. He has hinted at wanting to manage Swerve Strickland and take over Prince Nana's role. He even left his business card behind and seems to be waiting for an answer from the former world champion.
Swerve could come out on Wednesday to finally address this. In the end, he could decide to stand by Nana seeing as he has been the only one to stick by him through his ups and downs.
This could force MVP's hand and make him bring out the faction he has been making in the shadows, leading to the debut of the Hurt Syndicate, with Strickland being their first victim.
#4. Toni Storm returns to confront Mariah May during her world title celebration
For a few weeks now, Mariah May has been hinting at holding a long-overdue celebration for her women's title win at All In last month. According to her, the missing piece for this was the presence of Mina Shirakawa.
Last week, the two finally reunited, and the celebration could finally push through this week. She may find herself with an uninvited guest in Toni Storm. A few days ago, Toni and Mina competed in Stardom without Mariah knowing, and this could begin another storyline between the trio with the Japanese star being caught in the middle once again.
#5. Britt Baker turns heel in front of her hometown
For the first time since All In, Britt Baker will be making her return. On Dynamite she'll be facing off against Serena Deeb.
Baker has not had the best of runs over the past year and her frustrations could boil over. She could end up losing to Deeb tomorrow night, and eventually lose her temper. This could prompt a heel turn for the former AEW Women's World Champion.
When Britt joined AEW she was a heel, and this could be her going after her initial role. It remains to be seen what could be in store for her character next.
#6. Wheeler Yuta finally chooses a side
Since the Blackpool Combat Club ousted Bryan Danielson from the faction, there has been one unanswered question, and this would be where Wheeler Yuta's allegiances lie.
He came to Bryan's aid following the attack and has shown that he does not agree with what the rest of his factionmates did. On Dynamite, they could address this matter. Yuta has shown that he is not on the same page as the others and could finally choose to stand alongside Danielson in the war between him and Jon Moxley.
This poses a problem regarding the future of the AEW Trios Title. This could force them to relinquish the gold with Wheeler wanting no part of it. Mox could assume the role of the third man in this trio.
Fans will have to stay tuned to Wednesday night to find out what surprises could be in store for this special episode of AEW Dynamite.
