2-time AEW champion claims Tony Khan will never “fire” him
A former two-time champion from AEW recently made the bold claim that Tony Khan will never fire him. The star in question is none other than Max Caster of The Acclaimed.
"Platinum" Max Caster is one of the most successful homegrown talents in the Tony Khan-led promotion. Alongside his tag partners, Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn, the 35-year-old star has held the AEW World Tag Team Championship and the AEW World Trios Championship. He is well-known for his bold on-screen personality and the controversial rap verses he regularly employs to undermine his opponents.
Caster, who frequently engages with fans on social media, made a bold assertion on X/Twitter recently. When a user hoped that Tony Khan would fire him, Max claimed that the All Elite CEO would never terminate him from his promotion.
"He will never fire me! I am the Best Wrestler Alive TM," wrote Caster.
The Acclaimed had a heated exchange with FTR on AEW Collision last week
The August 3, 2024 episode of Collision saw The Beast Mortos teaming up with Mike Bennett, Matt Taven and Roderick Strong of The Undisputed Kingdom going against Darby Allin, FTR and ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe. The babyface team won with Dax Harwood pinning Taven following a Coffin Drop from Allin.
After the match, Harwood took to a microphone and cut a promo, alluding to himself and his tag partner Cash Wheeler as the heart and soul of AEW. His address would be interrupted by The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn making their way to the ring. Max Caster questioned Dax's claim by pointing out their absence in the 2024 Blood and Guts match against The Elite before taking shots at him and Wheeler.
Anthony Bowens then voiced their intention of establishing their legacy in All Elite Wrestling. They refused to let FTR cut in line ahead of them for a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Champions Matthew and Nicholas Jackson. He also reminded the Top Guys that The Acclaimed holds a victory over them, referencing their battle from December 2022.
The exchange of words between the two teams nearly escalated into a brawl, although Mark Briscoe managed to restore peace in the ring. FTR then extended an olive branch in the form of a handshake, which The Acclaimed surprisingly turned down as Billy Gunn pulled them away.
It remains to be seen if The Acclaimed and FTR will square off to decide which team will challenge The Young Bucks for their Tag Titles, possibly at All In 2024.
