"2024 hasn't been kind to us" - AEW star gives unfortunate update amid absence
The AEW roster has taken another hit. This year has been full of ups and downs for one All Elite act, and now their run has been paused once again. The fan-favorite just issued a statement to update fans on what's happened.
Anthony Henry and JD Drake are The WorkHorsemen of AEW and ROH. The former EVOLVE Tag Team Champions debuted for All Elite Wrestling in March 2022, then for Ring of Honor in April 2023. In addition to singles action, they have worked more than two dozen All Elite matches and almost 30 Ring of Honor matches.
They were defeated by Daniel Garcia and Katsuyori Shibata at the May 30 Collision tapings in their first All Elite match since losing to Darby Allin and Sting in January. Drake announced that he had suffered a foot injury shortly after the Collision match.
The 5-Star King took to X today to provide an update on his longtime tag team partner, noting that The New Age Enforcer has a torn ligament in his foot.
"For those wondering... the #workhorsemen will be back soon enough. Our first match back on Collision, @RealDrake , unfortunately tore a ligament in his foot. 2024 hasn't been kind to us," Anthony Henry wrote.
The former Asher Hale of WWE NXT has continued working matches for both companies while Drake is on the shelf. Henry was actually released from his original contract on April 1, but fans rallied behind him, and days later, Tony Khan announced that he would offer the 22-year veteran a new contract once he recovered from a broken jaw.
