27-year-old star threatens AEW's Kenny Omega in heated rant

A budding 27-year-old pro wrestler is set for a potentially star-making match against AEW's Kenny Omega next year. The talent in question, Gabe Kidd, held nothing back against The Cleaner during a recent interview.

A match between Omega and Gabe Kidd was officially scheduled for the massive cross-promotional pay-per-view Wrestle Dynasty 2025, some time earlier. The announcement followed on the heels of a backstage brawl between the two men after the former AEW World Champion revealed his desire at NJPW Power Struggle last month to return to action against an up-and-coming NJPW star on the January 5 event.

Kidd responded to Omega's comments about him recently during an interview with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp. He claimed that The Best Bout Machine would not be able to adequately prepare for their imminent battle at Wrestle Dynasty, regardless of his training sessions with long-time tag partner Kota Ibushi.

''I saw some clips. He can say what he wants. I’ve been wrestling this whole year. Active. Actively war-ready going into fights. He can do whatever he wants to prepare for this. He can go to the gym, he can hang out with his little friend Ibushi. He can do whatever he wants. It’s not going to compare to anything that I’m going to bring to that fight. Let’s get that clear. It’s not a match, it’s a fight."

The 27-year-old asserted that Omega, who has been on hiatus since December last year, does not pose a significant threat to him, who has been actively wrestling all year.

"He can do what he wants. He can say what he wants. The fact is, he’s a pathetic weak man. That’s the reality of the situation. You’re a pathetic man. It’s easy to say that stuff when you’re not fighting every week and away from everything you care about. Don’t talk to me about anything. You used to be great. Now you’re lunch for me. Dinner," Kidd said. [H/T - Fightful]

Omega has been recovering from a severe diverticulitis infection which sidelined him in December 2023.

Several AEW names set to compete at Wrestle Dynasty 2025

Wrestle Dynasty 2025 will be jointly produced by AEW, ROH, NJPW, Stardom, and CMLL. As such, several talents from the Tony Khan-led promotion will compete at the monumental PPV besides Kenny Omega.

The card for the event will feature Brody King vs. David Finlay, Claudio Castagnoli vs. Shota Umino, Jack Perry vs. Yota Tsuji, Tomohiro Ishii vs. either Shingo Takagi or Konosuke Takeshita, and The Young Bucks vs. Great-O-Khan and a partner of his choosing.

Furthermore, Wrestle Dynasty will crown the first-ever International Women's Cup winner, with Athena already having qualified from ROH and either Willow Nightingale or Jamie Hayter set to join her from AEW. Also, Ricochet is poised to square off with Zack Sabre Jr. in singles action.
