3 Reasons why Bryan Danielson has put his career on the line at AEW All In
Bryan Danielson is arguably one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He has competed in promotions such as Ring of Honor, WWE, Evolve, PWG, and more. Additionally, he has won championships in almost every company he has wrestled in.
The 43-year-old recently won The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament which guarantees him an AEW World Title shot at All In. Interestingly, the technical wizard might hang his boots after his match against Swerve Strickland at All In 2024.
In the recent episode of Dynamite, Bryan Danielson delivered a promo addressing Strickland. In this promo, The American Dragon promised his opponent that if he failed to win the AEW World Championship at Wembley Stadium, he would never wrestle again.
Let us take a look at some reasons why Bryan Danielson chose a Title vs. Career stipulation for his All In 2024 match.
#3. The American Dragon has been dealing with ongoing injury issues
Like most professional wrestlers, Bryan Danielson has had issues with injuries throughout his career. When he was in WWE, he was forced to retire because his neck was in a terrible state. Fortunately, Bryan recovered and made an in-ring comeback. However, injuries continue to be a problem for him to this day.
Danielson recently revealed that AEW doctor Michael Sampson has asked him not to wrestle until All In because his neck "isn't great".
"Doc Sampson doesn’t want me to wrestle until Wembley, and that’s actually the harder part. It’s the part like, ‘What do you mean? I’m here in Nashville. Can’t I…?' That sort of thing," Danielson said. [H/T: Fightful]
Due to the ongoing issues with injuries, Danielson might have thought that retiring after his All In title match would be the right decision.
#2. Bryan Danielson's contract with AEW is coming to an end
Bryan Danielson's contract with AEW will end on August 1, 2024. The 43-year-old simply might have thought that drawing the curtain on his career along with his contract expiration would be a good idea.
By retiring from in-ring action, Danielson will be able to spend more time with his family, which consists of his wife and children. Furthermore, there is a possibility that he might adopt a backstage role in the company, and help Tony Khan with making vital creative decisions and elevating the promotion to new heights.
#1. The stipulation announcement might be a ruse
There is a massive chance that Bryan Danielson has no intention of retiring if he loses to Strickland at All In. He simply proposed the stipulation to make things between the two wrestlers interesting.
The American Dragon might end up winning the AEW World Championship in Wembley Stadium by implementing heel tactics. Or, he might turn heel after his victory and go on a ruthless run like he did during his time in the WWE.
