3-time WWE champion confirms he will officially retire in AEW
A former three-time champion in WWE confirmed that he will retire from in-ring competition in AEW. The star made his move to Tony Khan's promotion several weeks ago following his departure from the Stamford-based promotion.
The three-time WWE Champion in question is MVP. The 51-year-old veteran is known for his time in the Stamford-based promotion, where he became a two-time United States and one-time tag team champion. Earlier this year, MVP announced his departure from the largest wrestling promotion in the world.
At the Dynamite Grand Slam in September 2024, MVP made his All Elite debut and later reunited The Hurt Business with Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley and renamed them 'The Hurt Syndicate.' While MVP is currently playing the role of an onscreen manager, he has not yet announced his retirement from in-ring competition.
Furthermore, MVP also recently said that he might have a few more matches before he officially retires. Meanwhile, the former United States Champion dropped a statement regarding his in-ring retirement. A fan on the Bsky social media platform asked MVP if he'd be seen in an All Elite ring, and MVP replied by saying he plans to officially retire from in-ring competition in Tony Khan's promotion.
"Yeah. I plan to eventually officially retire in AEW."
