3-time WWE champion pitches blockbuster dream match against Adam Copeland amid his AEW absence

A former WWE champion said it would be "really cool" to have a dream match against Adam Copeland. These two men have never faced each other.

Adam Cole was part of WWE between 2017 and 2021. During this time, he primarily wrestled on NXT and was a multi-time champion. Despite being one of the top stars on the black and gold brand at the time, Cole was never promoted to the main roster. But, he had some stellar matches with some big names.

That being said, there is one star he has yet to face - Adam Copeland. Although both men were part of the same promotion at the same, they never faced each other since they worked for different brands. However, now both men are finally part of the same company again which makes this dream match a possibility.

During a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez, Adam Cole listed the erstwhile Edge as someone he wants to face in the future since the two men have never competed against each other in the ring.

“Oh my god, yeah, easily [Adam Copeland is on top of my dream match list]. Again, I never in a million years thought that I could step in the ring with Adam Copeland, and I think now it is certainly possible. So, as far as dream matches in AEW that I haven’t had — even dream matches in all of pro wrestling that I haven’t had — getting in the ring with Adam Copeland would be really cool.” [H/T Ringside News]

Adam Copeland has been absent from AEW TV for several months

Copeland was riding high as the TNT Champion. After defeating his former best friend Christian Cage for the title, the Rated R Superstar defended the title against many opponents in open challenges.

He faced one of his toughest challengers in Malakai Black at AEW Double or Nothing 2024. The two men competed in a barbed wire steel cage. During the match, the former WWE Champion went for a dive off the top of the cage and landed awkwardly. Although he completed the match and picked up the win, Copeland was ruled out of action due to a severe injury and this forced him to relinquish his title as well.

Since then, Copeland has not been seen on AEW TV. Hence, if Adam Cole wants a match against the Rated R Superstar, then he will have to wait for the latter's return.
