32-year-old star says he's an AEW lifer; fires explicit shots at Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland
The AEW locker room is gunning for Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay. As the World Champion and the undefeated newcomer, the two top stars constantly have a target on their back. Now, a 23-year veteran is expressing his loyalty to the company and firing shots at two of the best on the roster.
Zak Knight debuted for AEW and ROH last year, and then his sister Saraya announced his contract signing earlier this year. The Zodiac began wrestling at age 10 and hails from the UK's legendary Knight Family of pro wrestling. It's no secret that Saraya helped her brother get a tryout with Tony Khan, as new insider details were recently revealed.
Speaking on the Grue Rume Show, Knight declared that he will be the face of All Elite Wrestling in just five years, which is notable as his son once stopped him from retiring. He remarked how the company took a "massive gamble" on him when no one else would, so in return, he's prepared to be an AEW lifer if Khan wants him in that role. The 23-year veteran then had some choice words for Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay.
"Bro, listen... I love ‘em [Ospreay and Swerve] to bits, they’re phenomenal wrestlers, but they’re not fighters. They’re not fighters. People can act like tough men all they want. Everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the face, and unfortunately for them, that’s my finishing move. I will knock both of them f*****s out. No problem... and I say that with a straight face. I’m not even gagging with you [laughs]," Zak Knight said. [From 52:51 to 53:14]
Knight continued:
"Trust me, mark my words. Will and Swerve... it might take a year, two years or three years, I’m climbing up the ladder to get where they are. That’s what I’m doing, and I’m busting my a*s, and I’m not afraid of the grind to get there, but when I do... both of them are gonna get knocked the f**k out. Mark my words," Zak Knight said. [From 53:15 to 53:38]
Zak's last All Elite match was a Rampage win over Angelo Parker on April 12. He worked the ROH TV tapings on Thursday night, defeating Sebastian Wolfe.
