33-year-old star calls out The Young Bucks; sets terms for high-stakes AEW match

The Young Bucks were set a challenge by a 33-year-old star in what will be seen as a bold move. This is sure to set the pulses racing.

Matthew and Nicholas Jackson, who are the executive vice presidents of AEW, were called out by none other than New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Great-O-Khan. The Young Bucks, who recently lost their tag team titles to Private Party, are scheduled to take on HENARE and Great-O-Khan for the IWGP Tag Team Titles at NJPWxAEW Wrestle Dynasty in January.

Great-O-Khan took exception to how they were penciled in for the match and said:

"Yo, who the hell do you think you are, showing up out of nowhere and saying whatever you want? New Japan is having a series and AEW is intervening. You should think about the timing. After we win the championship, it would make sense to go to them directly and ask them to let us challenge them. I have no problem with facing them. It's obvious we're going to win anyway, and since we were in need of a challenger for the Dome, it's convenient for us to execute the vice president of AEW. If they come all the way to Japan and lose, I hope they invite us to join AEW. We will prove that we are the best tag team in the world right away. We can even consider a double affiliation with New Japan, since our contracts are up for renewal in January. However, unless it's at least three years and two billion [yen], that's a bit, you know, the world won't forgive us." [H/T Fightful]

Future plans for The Young Bucks revealed

The Young Bucks have not been seen since they dropped the tag team titles to Private Party. The Jackson brothers fled All Elite Wrestling as Jon Moxley and the Death Riders took control of the weekly programming, and fans are wondering when they will come back.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently noted that while The Young Bucks might be away for now, the eventual plan is for them to come back as babyfaces to save AEW from Moxley’s faction.

If that is indeed going to be the case, then it will be a major shift in their characters, given that they have been ardent heels since the start of the year.
