56-year-old wrestler collapses mid-way during match; rushed to the hospital
A 56-year-old wrestler unfortunately collapsed during his match earlier today. The wrestler is none other than the legendary Minoru Suzuki.
The NJPW star is one of the most hard-hitting wrestlers in the business. During today's Tenryu Project at their Osaka Crush Night show in Japan, Minoru Suzuki collapsed mid-match and the bout was forced to be called off. The NJPW star was diagnosed with a concussion.
On X (formerly Twitter), The Murder Grandpa provided an update on his condition and revealed that there were no problems in his CT scan. The veteran noted that he remembers everything about the unfortunate incident.
"I’ll report it for now. I did a CT scan and other tests, but there were no particular problems. I was kicked out of the hospital with a “If you’re feeling fine, go home!” feeling. I remember everything. I even remember how I fell at the end. So there’s no need to worry. For now, I’ll just say one thing… “If I see you again, I’ll beat you all up!” "
Adam Copeland on how his match against legendary wrestler Minoru Suzuki took place in AEW
A couple of months ago on AEW Dynamite, Adam Copeland competed in a brutal singles match against Minoru Suzuki. The Rated-R Superstar went on to pick up a pinfall victory on the Japanese legend.
Speaking in an interview with Sports Illustrated, Copeland revealed how the match against Suzuki was made official by Tony Khan.
"I thought Suzuki and I would be really cool," said Copeland. "It’s something you wouldn’t even think of until you think of it, right? It’s going to be hard-hitting. And the word that keeps coming to mind is grizzled. But I never thought this match would ever happen. So I asked Tony, ‘Can we get Suzuki?’ He said he’d find out. As soon as he found out, literally as soon as he got off the phone, he advertised it on air."
Adam Copeland is currently out with a broken tibia which forced him to relinquish his TNT Championship. It will be interesting to see if Copeland chases the TNT Title when he returns to action in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
