6ft 2in former WWE star opens up on Tony Khan's interesting backstage comments

A former WWE star disclosed his backstage conversations with the AEW President, Tony Khan, after his match. The star also reflected on the impact of the feedback.

The star in question is Shane Haste. Shane is currently signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He is also known for his time in the WWE from 2016 to 2021, where he wrestled under the names "Shane Thorne" and "Slapjack." He is currently a member of the TMDK faction in NJPW and has made multiple appearances on AEW television as well.

Shane Haste has revealed one of his conversations with the company president, Tony Khan, after one of his matches in AEW. Speaking on the WrestleMobs podcast recently, Haste disclosed that he once got feedback for one of his matches from Khan backstage:

“I can’t remember what match, but there was one match I had, and I’m like, ‘That wasn’t very good, or at least I wasn’t very good.’ He was like, ‘That was great; thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘Maybe I am good.’ [Laughs] A big part of wrestling is confidence. If you’ve got confidence, people will see you in the ring, you could do nothing, and if you exude confidence, but you have to have that confidence. You have to have that built up." Former WWE star on his experience in AEW

The former WWE star, Shane Haste (fka Shane Thorne), also opened up on his experience working at AEW. Shane deemed Tony Khan's promotion to be similar to the Stamford-based promotion:

“I loved AEW. It was so much fun. There’s a lot of similarities between that and WWE because it is a national, worldwide wrestling television show, but yeah, there’s a lot more freedoms there to be yourself and trust. Tony trusts the wrestlers to go do what they do, which is great. You come back, and he’s so supportive; he loves everything. I don’t know if that’s a good barometer [laughs] if I’m actually good or not. But afterwards, I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m really good.’” [H/T: EWrestlingnews]

Henceforth, only time will tell when Shane Haste will be seen on All Elite Wrestling again.
