"A couple more months" - Top AEW star gives massive update after year-long absence
AEW is currently celebrating its five-year anniversary and the company has a loaded roster to move forward with. Unfortunately, several top stars are still on the shelf with injuries, including a fan-favorite who has just provided a significant update on her plans to return.
Tay Melo and her husband Sammy Guevara appeared at Double Or Nothing 2023 to announce that they were expecting their first child. The happy couple then welcomed a daughter on November 28. It was recently revealed that the mother of one is training for her in-ring return, and while no other details were provided, sources said there was no word of any imminent creative plans.
Another top All Elite Wrestling star on hiatus called Melo out this weekend. A fan on X (formerly Twitter) then commented on how they miss seeing the 28-year-old on TV. The Brazilian star responded and revealed that she had just a few more months until doctors cleared her for action again.
"A couple more months until I'm cleared [red heart emoji]," Tay Melo wrote.
You can check out her update below:
Melo has not wrestled in AEW since the January 11, 2023 Rampage tapings, where she teamed with Anna Jay for a Street Fight loss to Willow Nightingale and Ruby Soho. She and Guevara defeated Encore and Tiara James at NEW WrestleFest on March 11, and that was her last match.
Tony Khan gives thanks for AEW anniversary
All Elite Wrestling President, CEO, General Manager, Head Of Creative, and Executive Producer Tony Khan has thanked fans for supporting the company during its first five years.
Khan took to X before Sunday's sixth annual Double or Nothing pay-per-view to give a special thanks to mark the All Elite Wrestling anniversary.
"Thank you to anyone who's ever attended an AEW show or watched one on tv, TBS, TNT, ppv at any point over these past 5 years. We appreciate you all! Happy Anniversary!," Tony Khan wrote.
The company will return to television on Wednesday for a live episode of Dynamite from the KIA Forum in Los Angeles, CA. Friday's Rampage episode will also be taped. The only match announced for Dynamite as of this writing is the Casino Gauntlet to determine the number-one contender to challenge World Champion Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door.
